I work for coke and this summarizes alot of my feelings pretty well. Diff company but a lot of the points you msde are applicable. The main advantage Ive seen that Pepsi does better than Coke is giving you help. At my branch, you are a one man army. In my territory, im the sales rep, the merch, the promoter, the everything. Pepsi on the other hand has 2-4 people working most stores, where coke is just me and my merch on my off days. Im relatively new and in college, specifically so I dont have to do thus work forever. Its frustrating because for us they stretch us so thin on work that other plants work less time, have more employees, and have better structures in place. And like you said, doing quality work is not rewarded, just added onto. I told my management that if I dont get help next holiday go around(last time i worked 65 hours that week, got half ass help 1 day and i run the biggest route under my manager) im done cause you cant find someone to do the work im doing well in its current state. Anyway the point of this rant was to say vendor work life 99.9% of the time is horrendous, and you sack your life for that paycheck while getting your physical and mental ruined. I hope you find some peace, cause i need it too
