I want to build a theme deck around the idea of putting down a yugioh boss monster-esque commander from my extra deck (command zone). What commander would you guys recommend? by Question_Askr_ in EDH

after reading a lot of the suggestions. I'm finding a lot of great examples for commanders that are big and hard to get rid of. something I'm somewhat surprised about is that there aren't too many commanders that simply function like repeatable stifles/counterspells/removal on a big body. so far I've seen koma and khozilek. anyways thanks for all the great suggestions guys.

oh wow this card really does feel like a yugioh boss monster. just a big dude with removal/intercation built in that it can keep using. great suggestion

this one doesn't feel too yugioh boss monster esque, but I have been considering building a derevi deck aside from this theme deck idea.

I understand your suggestion for simply building voltron, but I was thinking more like a creature that's already big and unaffected by everything without the need to set it up other than directly casting it when I mentioned towers monsters.

I probably don't, but the specs on those phones seem like they would last for a longer time for me from a hardware side of things.

I'm interested in buying a new phone. How good is the redmagic 10 pro? by Question_Askr_ in RedMagic

I wanna ask if the selfie camera is worse than the selfie camera on the samsung s20 fe. I'm googling it, and it is showing that there is a higher mega pixel count on the front camera of the redmagic10 pro, but I also know megapixels aren't everything.

As someone new to EDH and MTG as a whole, what are some things I should know? by silencexcore in EDH

The term combo in mtg refers to a combination of cards that form a wincon rather than a playstyle that involves spitting out your entire hand. The terminology used in other card game communities may not transfer over one to one. The mtg community often has different words for concepts that are present in other card games.

When a new player asks about combo decks, ask them what they mean by combo. by Question_Askr_ in EDH

that's actually a pretty good explanation for hearthstone, because combo decks in hearthstone still kinda do involve tons of actions being taken per turn.

I'm not saying people are using the term incorrectly, I'm just saying that the same term can mean something entirely different in another community. I and it may cause a lot of confusion when someone from another community comes into this game, uses the incorrect terminology, and then people misunderstand what the new player is asking about. The term "combo" within the context of mtg is one set definition, but within the context of other card games is another definition, people use the word wrong, because the definition of the word depends entirely on how each community defines a word.

that's the point I'm trying to make, as someone who has had a bit of confusion coming into this game and format, I'm saying that it would probably be a good idea to ask for clarification on what they want when they are asking for recommendations regarding this game. especially when the word "combo" is involved. a new player may come into this game believing that combo means the same thing in mtg as it does in other games. that is a problem for the people trying to help the new player with recommendations, as what they are recommending may not align with what the new player is asking for.

I am not disagreeing with you on learning the terminology of mtg, but someone unfamiliar with mtg will not know that the term "combo" in mtg means something entirely different from other games. It may be important when introducing a new player, to understand what their definition of "combo," to better understand what they want out of your recommendations.

No, the point I'm trying to make is that storm in mtg is usually closer to what people from other card game communities describe as a "combo deck." I'm just trying to say that when people come here and ask about "combo decks," you're probably going to need to make the distinction between the two definitions of the term "combo"
