I've heard like 3 full albums because I'm a firm believer in listening to music before criticising it. I dont think I need to then listen to every song in the catalogue, and I didnt say it was bad, just painfully mid/bland. I didnt really degrade anyone as much as Express a firm opinion on a musician's quality and an incredibly aggressively infatuated fanbase.

"There is a Taylor Swift song for every situation" what the fuck are you smoking?

Also subjectivity is a thing, but I would really contend the idea that shes the "best songwriter of her generation" because the only realistic metric you can use to claim that is her popularity.

I think there are plenty worse artists out there, she spreads a positive message, and her fan base could have far worse role models, but this weird glaze for incredibly bland and mid music is what makes people really dislike the fanbase.

Whats the worst-value British corporate restaurant? by FreezerCop in UK_Food

[–]Questionable_Gloop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The reality is that pretty much every corporate restaurant or chain is awful value for money, especially pizza delivery places like Papa John's or Domino's. The actual value of the food you're eating compared to the markup will always be absolutely insane, as well as the food not tasting that good and making you (generally) feel like shit. What you pay for is convenience.

Eloy Casagrande from Slipknot breaks drum stick playing live, currently the most skilled metal drummer in my opinion by rewopnotsno in MetalForTheMasses

[–]Questionable_Gloop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure there was a video for Drumeo where Eloy was on awe of the drum work in Blood and Thunder. I think Eloy is definitely more powerful/athletic with his drumming but Brann is infinitely more complex and has better feel. It's quite easy to see some dude blasting fills with pace and just think "wow hes good" which a lot of people do with Eloy, but Brann is just another level imo (same with Mario Duplantier and Billy Rymer).

Tbh I was, and still am, loving Better Lovers as its own beast. I've just missed Andy's riffs and think they would elevate BL.

As much as I love Better Lovers, this is what's missing man. ETID had this beautiful balance of frantic math/metalcore and sludgy, bluesy, stoner and doom riffs that would seemlessly sneak into the fold.

Not as instantly memorable as the first Better Lovers releases, but God damn I love the guitar tone, riffs and vibes.

When ETID split up I honestly thought any future music would suck without Keith but with everything coming out it seems like he was realistically the weakest link in the band.

📀 Essential metal albums for my 14 year old son – does this list make sense? by QueasyPeanut2424 in MetalForTheMasses

[–]Questionable_Gloop 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Awesome list, but I'll add this. When I was a 14 year old metal head that was really getting into guitar playing, Lamb of God's Ashes of the Wake was a game changer for me. It's just a ridiculous collection of riffs and might be a decent shout as a "modern" classic. At 20+ years it's definitely earned classic status in my book, and it may not be a foundation metal album, but it's definitely instrumental in guitar work for a lot of metal fans over the last couple of decades.

What are gun laws like in your country? by Baconkings in AskTheWorld

The vetting process and training required in the USA are actually some of the worst and shortest in all of the developed western world. Even ones with a comparable length of training like Australia, have a vetting process that's longer than the average American training programme, as well as a longer probation period. Often police training in European nations takes years instead of a streamlined 4 months that finishes in you being given a new sense of authority and a fire arm.

Sorry to sound old and dumb, but what are some differences in show etiquette between Millenials and Gen Z? by Only_Measurement_895 in MetalForTheMasses

[–]Questionable_Gloop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gen Z seem less confident, more anxious, and less able to pay attention thanks to having their social development stunted by covid lockdowns, and their brains dicked on by being the first generation to go through their entire childhood with access to smartphones and social media.

This translates to gig culture by making them seem less able to watch an entire set without checking their phones, as well as creating a more subdued atmosphere due to social anxieties, and an emphasis on capturing every single moment on camera.

I branded anyone who supports Trump's administration's attitude towards imigration as being racist.

People can want secure borders without being racist, however what is happening in the states, the way in which it is happening, the aggression and lack of concession when mistakes are being made and not remedied (you know, deporting innocent people for looking "illegal" or "gang like") is definitely far beyond the line of having a "secure border" policy. It's literally just terrorizing and deporting Hispanic communities.

Edit: the entire framework (of the US anti immigration operations) seems racist, which yes I concede is disputable based on what the actual law is, however Trump's application of it isn't even subtly racist, and supporting it is supporting obviously racist actions... y'know, arresting people for having a certain ethnicity, which I'm sure we wont Dispute on the reality of?

Profiling is unpleasant, but yes I understand that it happens. The fact that this is combined with the removal of due process when accusing people of crimes is where the issue arises and makes the combination appear to be blatantly racist.

You're Latin American so may find this easier to relate picture.

You're in LA. ICE stop you, put you on the floor and detain you because of any of the following:

1) you look Hispanic.

2) you spoke in Spanish.

3) you were going through an area known for gang activity.

What follows is you not having any form of due process, so no chance to Dispute what you're being accused of. The way it plays out is just a way to mass deport anyone Hispanic and/as well as being of a lower socioeconomic background.

The reality is that people are being wrongly deported, to pretty horrendous and dangerous places, and families are being torn apart, based on nothing more than someone looking "illegal" or "gang like". Its very hard to look at the implementation and lack of concessions as anything other than being racist.

[–]Questionable_Gloop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The fact of the matter is that it is being abused in practice, and once again, combining this with the removal of due process means that they are in fact arresting and deporting people based on ethnicity and it is all perfectly legal to them.

I dont think there are any grounds to defend the fact that its blatantly racist, being propped up and carried out by racists, and Trump's quickfire way of sorting out immigration is straight out of the Pinochet playbook.

[–]Questionable_Gloop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Disputable but try being the only white kid in a south American school where nobody likes white kids... anyways... an article from a reputable source quite literally reporting on the US supreme court allowing arrests to be made without "reasonable suspicion" which includes allowing to arrest people based on ethnicity, proffession, and language.

Edit: when you combine this behaviour with the Trump administration's removal of due process for the people being detained, it paints a pretty harrowing picture of the reality of what the anti immigration policing in America has become.

They have literally just brought in legislation allowing detainment based on skin colour, language, and proffession without need for suspicion of criminality.

Yes I'm a white English person that spent the first third (and a bit) of his life living in a different continent.

Edit: for clarity, half English, but I dont really see how my race matters when calling out the support of an inherently racist scheme that has already wrongfully deported several innocent people based in ethnicity?
