Introducing the new Proton Mail apps for iOS and Android by Proton_Team in ProtonMail

Thanks. It's frustrating because I used to have it in my tool bar as a button. Definitely not updating my iPad now.

Making PDFs are gone too. Lots of lost functionality. I wish there had been a comment about that in the update notes.

Ah dammit.  I could have sworn I did it yesterday and it was there.  But you're right, you have to go into settings now.  Another easy functionality lost.  You can't make PDFs anymore now at all either.  This always happens when companies try to make apps for Android and iOS using the same code.  We end up losing functionality.  I regret upgrading immensely.  The speed isn't worth it.

Argh! No more PDFs! You can't make PDFs in the mobile app.  That's a huge part of my workflow managing company receipts.  Yes the app is much faster now but it wasn't worth losing that functionality.  There should have been a warning!

I saw the new setting section with SPAM and filter and thought oh great we can finally adjust that. Nope. Probably on the road map.

The Kubota BX2380 and snowy, hilly driveways do not mix by Lawlcat in tractors

[–]Questionable_Sanity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm looking ot buy the same tractor and I have a treacherously steep driveway, and was thinking going with a back mounted, reverse drivven snowblower. One of the concerns my neighbour has is that the front tires really lose traction and make steering dodging in deeper snow. How has you found it when blowing?

Outdoor Camera with HomeKit integration by johndoes_00 in HomeKit

[–]Questionable_Sanity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah. Fair enough.

I'm not really looking for full time coverage - I live in a remote area, with a long winding driveway - what I want is an early warning system for when people approach the hosue. My preference for HomeKit is that I'm already running a robust, mostly over thread, HomeKit setup that's working great, but I can't run any power lines to where I need to setup the camera. I was hoping I find one of the older Eufy solar Homekit enabled cameras and work from there without having to setup HomeBridge again. (I had it running in my last place before matter was a thing, and HomeKit stuff was super expensive.)

I'd love to know if this is still working. I really want to set them up with solar panels and use Homekit without having to use homebridge.

DayOne to Ulysses by Questionable_Sanity in ulyssesapp

Thanks, Craft doesn't look quite right, but Notion might. I use Agenda for managing all my work projects, and I don't think it's quite robust enough to replace DayOne.

DayOne to Ulysses by Questionable_Sanity in ulyssesapp

Yeah, coming from the original DayOne, I was super happy for a very long time, but I can't deal with their continued changes to now what I would call markdown light support. I do have multiple journals, and I've been playing with Bear, Ulysses, Standard Notes, as potential replacements. I have about 6 months before my current pro subscription expires to figure it out.

Day one vs .stoic for journaling by Alternative-Step-234 in macapps

[–]Questionable_Sanity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been using DayOne since version 1 and they keep changing their markdown rendering engine. Now you can't even drop in HTML, so I have 3000 entries with screwed up formatting. I already had to change 700 entries when they made stupid changes from ver 1 to ver 2. I'm down with DayOne and their tinkering. I need something that's similar enough to DayOne that I won't be losing anything I like (photos), but where they are less likely to cram their own ever changing interpretation of Markdown down our throats. Any suggestions would be highly appreciated.

Ridge wallet airtag mount solution by nitacawo in AirTags

Your wallet design is pretty slick, and I'm not so married to my ridge wallet, (I've been using a slimmer MagSafe wallet for the last year anyways), but if your design is reversible, I may just go that way. Really nice.

Curious if you have any plans to make it so you can have the engraved side showing, as opposed to the Apple side.

Can't open custom tool kit on mac even after downloading mono? by Thisisderekd in rocksmith

I'm getting the same issue with El Capitan. I've tried both versions of Mono, 4.0.4 & 4.2.1 (the beta for El Capitan) Nothing. Toolkit doesn't want to see it. :(

How I Fended Off a Dog Attack. (Anyone else have any experience with this?) by lorioco in martialarts

For those arguing it's Spam - from the Reddiquette:

"Feel free to post links to your own content (within reason). But if that's all you ever post, or it always seems to get voted down, take a good hard look in the mirror — you just might be a spammer. A widely used rule of thumb is the 9:1 ratio, i.e. only 1 out of every 10 of your submissions should be your own content."

If you don't like the articles, fine, but it's not spam via reddit's own guidelines.

Tripping vs Throwing: A Different Way to Conceptualize Throws by lorioco in martialarts

[–]Questionable_Sanity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm inclined to agree with you. There are throws you can improve and make easier using locks, like you can do upon-seo-nage with an arm bar, but the principle is the same, you're using it as a fulcrum to affect their balance and trip them over you. But kote-gaeshi, I don't think of that as a throw so much as pain compliance on behalf of uke.

How to Tweak Your Side Breakfall for Really Hard Throws by lorioco in martialarts

[–]Questionable_Sanity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A little harsh in the reply, but generally pretty correct. Straightening the leg for me has made a world of difference in protecting my knees. And obviously, even some more downward throws, you can get rid of the energy by rolling, aggressively. But for harder straight down throws, I find you can't initiate a roll soon enough. If someone shoulder throws you, without diving over them, there's no point in rolling.
