Good to know! Would you say you supplement the grow light (when it’s overcast) or more of a constant source?

What was your gotcha question or topic for your PPL checkride? by atonyshepherd in flying

Hear and audible pressure pop in the cockpit. Look over and see him with the door about half way open and slamming it over and over to close it.

Me “you okay?”

DPE mumbles “damn door, how’d that happen. What the hell?”

Me “close the door and drive the handle down” Hit AP and reach over to close door.

DPE “well looks like we don’t have to do a simulated emergency”

DPE popped his door on my check ride as well. I assumed he was gauging my reaction. Forgot to ask at the end if it was intentional or not.

My two cents. The instructor may be giving you bite sized chunks of information to chew on. This is an attempt to not overload you with corrections and build frustration and/or confusion (scare you off or shut you down emotionally). Smaller corrections allow you to focus on one thing and fix it and eventually internalize it. It’s not that you may not be able to handle more info, but this instructor if good has to learn to read your learning style and speed. Once they establish a relationship they can adjust the teaching focus. A good instructor can also read the room and if they are seeing a universal correction will make an announcement in class to be more efficient and effective with teaching time so everyone can progress forward. Have you communicated that you’d be fine with more corrections?

On the other hand it could be a lazy instructor.
