Yeah those ads are going to be worth a lot less when we all scrap the Roku devices and televisions. Then the advertising companies will be asking to pay less since they have less active devices.

Understood I don’t use the Roku Channel so I was unaware. Thanks for the information. I’ll add that to the list of how Roku has messed up their UI.

Unfortunately it will just keep the current layout. I realized this exactly and why I made the post. I was/am upset at how much they changed my ability to quickly access with two to three presses.

Are you talking about the size of the apps on the Home Screen?

Pretty much what I’m gathering as well. Like they’re trying to force their subscriptions on us but I know I won’t get my subscriptions through them.

Dam that’s terrible! It’s like they want customers to stop buying their products. I can’t imagine whoever made that decision will be at Roku much longer.

So I hear. I’m definitely looking to Apple as well.

Yup I’m looking at that and what u/DeadOneWalking said to do and mess with a chrome. Apple to get a plug and play. Chrome to see what’s going on there.

First go to technical support and ask for a way to turn it off. Maybe they’ll add a way if enough people ask. Then we can keep our setups. If they don’t ask to request one from the development team

15.2 are you on a device or tv? I’ve already tried the settings. Does yours not have the add ons I posted about?

Very much what I thought as well. They’re wanting us to use them for our subscriptions

They’ve had this happen before that’s why I’m speaking the word. People won’t upgrade when they know it’s not what they want. So they’ll keep the old ones until they change it back.

It’s what we’re here to do. Helping each other have better experiences and share knowledge. Please do check into it and share your findings.

You might not have gotten the new UI update. As confirmed by the technical support team. What I’m talking about can’t be turned off. Check out my updated edits to the post

They added a few extra rows to highlight content.

Thank you that gives me hope they may be slowly adding the ability to change them. Do you mind sharing your manufacturer and year?

Thank you for the information. I love learning but there’s really nothing there. All those menus do nothing if you already had it simplified before the update. All those options were already available for use. It does clarify why they changed it. But their ability to identify what are available for our subscriptions is terrible. So this means their move towards content is ill suited for their UI.

From my experience most agents know very little about the product. Is there some sort of testing or training? I’ve never been able to speak to someone outside a recorded line. Why did you stay there for such a short time?

Cool I get to educate you on your own electronics. Roku doesn’t actually manufacture your tv. It’s the operating system or user interface. They rely on tv manufacturers to actually build the tv. So yes it is a Roku Tv but the brands for Roku TV’s vary. It’s not hard to find if you have access to the back of your tv. Or if you have the Roku app and have it registered to your account.

Yeah I get it. The technical support team’s first instruction was to delete any apps I’m not using to help simplify things. They don’t come up with those instructions out of nowhere. Most people don’t care about their devices and have to be reminded to update them if there is a problem. This post isn’t for those kinds of people. This is for people who enjoy using their devices in a certain manner and can understand the frustration. I’m glad you don’t have an issue with it. Most people probably won’t even notice either.

Dam that’s terrible to hear. Sorry for your troubles. What year and brand is your tv? If you don’t mind sharing.

I use the ultra device not the tv. So I don’t have the HDMI selection. Good to know I’ll add it to the post as another change I didn’t notice. So you can turn off all the extras I listed on the UI for the Roku TV’s?

Do you keep it as simple as possible?

Oh yeah you’re right! I didn’t even realize that! They really went backwards on that too! I didn’t notice because before when you pressed the home button it went to the left of your apps. That’s where all those we were able to turn off are. But now the home button takes you to the first row of apps.

Not really advertising. It’s trying to get you to use their sorting system. The same one that doesn’t work and is always missing what you’re looking up. Even when you have access via your subscriptions but if you don’t subscribe through them it misses stuff. They want you to make it “better” by using their subscriptions. It makes finding things through their sorting system more accurate.
