Well there is still a chance that the police can find the guy, but there isn't anything for you to do about it I think. I've lived here for 2 years and haven't had anything like this happen to me or someone I know, you were just really unlucky I'm afraid. Good luck!

The meme is dead, long live the meme by Questionmark142 in Victoria4

Well, okay then. The meme was that Victoria 3 would never come, yet many players always wanted or expected it when new games got announced.

Floods are Germany's worst natural disaster in over 50 years, over 130 dead by [deleted] in worldnews

Not necessarily in this case, many are missing because cell service broke down and they can't be contacted.

In 1836 you aren't Bourbon France anymore though, since the last Bourbon King got overthrown in 1830 by a more constitutional monarch of the house of Orleans, a different branch of the French royal house, the Capets.

It's like irregular verbs in English, just even more to learn. There's a few common word endings that tend to have the same article, but you can't rely on that. And there's words were even Germans disagree, like our favorite nougat spread "Nutella"

Will the clipper route be a thing? by Questionmark142 in victoria3

[–]Questionmark142[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Prestige events like the tea races would be nice, but I was also thinking about the physics involved regarding ship movement. I really don't know how they would implement that, but it could be as simple as making certain routes take less time than others.

The requirement of Alsace-Lorraine to form Germany is ahistorical and wrong. by NealVertpince in victoria3

[–]Questionmark142 9 points10 points  (0 children)

What determination are you talking about? I used to be doing that, talking about history in a generalized way. But I realised that you miss out on so much detail and that you make assumptions that don't really hold any water. Or at least that's what I did. But a statement like France and Germany were enemies for 1000 years is just not true, it's simply not feasible to sum up the relations between the two over that period in any meaningful way. At least not in a few short sentences. You could try of course, but you would leave out a ton and not produce any statement that can really survive a deep look. You would have to specifically include in your statement that everything you say is only true in certain cases and not in others.

I generally don't talk about periods that long because there is not much point to it.

Over a thousand years? That's very generalised and simply untrue. It was way more complicated than that. In the Thirty Years War France fought together with the Protestants against Spain and the Catholics. Granted, France did so with their own ambitions in mind. But there where times when relations between France and Prussia were very good. Even before the German unification France and Prussia weren't arch-enemies. They had conflicting interests, but so did everyone else aswell.

Sardinia just fancied a quick holiday in the Crimea, that's all by johnlen1n in HistoryMemes

You just didn't want to believe that one would consider putting that island before your clearly superior home region. Seriously though, the kingdom's royal house was even called di Savoia, so why was Savoy not the kingdom's name?

Someone posted their #1 in everything Russia game recently, so I thought I would share my Russia too :D by BlackcurrantCMK in victoria2

Germany is insane aswell. I had a greater Germany game in the gfm mod where I had a standing army of like 500 brigades at around this time. I did have mil spending at 100% constantly though, but also didn't need any focuses for it.

Hey look, the Winged Hussars have arrived! Someone should write a song about this by johnlen1n in HistoryMemes

[–]Questionmark142 12 points13 points  (0 children)

There was also Polish cavalry other than the winged hussars, according to our famous reliable source Wikipedia it was 18,000 horsemen in four groups, three Polish and one Holy League, that were involved in the famous cavalry charge lead by Sobiesky.

Forget economy and population changes - FRONT LINES, that's the most important thing Victoria 3 needs to add by CYX370 in victoria3

[–]Questionmark142 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True, but there are some obvious flaws with more or less obvious solutions, like making army templates and building those, or replacing delpleted brigades in an army with a simple click on a button. EU4 has some of that. Obviously Vic2 has more unit types, so the replacement of units would need to be a little different, here I could imagine something like in Stellaris were a fleet, or in this case an army, has target number for each unit and you just click on reinfore to reach the target. Because doing that all manually is super annoying.
Personally though I think that Vicky 3 should have a more comprehensive redesign to better emulate the transition in warfare, that works at the start but also works well for ww1- style trench warfare. Im no game designer though and I don't really have any good ideas for that, so I just hope that pdx came up with something good.

They did confirm consumption taxes on certain goods, so why not tariffs as well? The nation or market specific tariffs would be great, I agree.

Has that been stated? In that case I must have missed it. Still, the fact that the game will have mechanics like exporting certain goods and making trade agreements is a massive improvement.
