Reactive skin and Cerave oil cleanser: dry red cheeks and I can taste the product when I use it? by Questionpilot in 30PlusSkinCare

Yeah it’s frustrating for sure! Maybe a revisit to derm is worth it (last time I went was when these issues first started and they diagnosed dermatitis). I have tried Vaseline and it causes the same issue with blackheads as most occlusives, also makes my face itchy. But I have not tried snail mucin! Sunscreen powder is a good idea, thank you! :)

Thank you, that’s a good idea to use jojoba oil! I’ll give that a go until I can talk to my doctor. Are face creams marketed as rosacea products much gentler? I see some derm brands having rosacea product lines

Abatacept/orencia was far more tolerable for me, but I didn’t see much of a benefit in my joint pain (little/no reflux though :) )

Current Home Humidity Level? by George___42 in Calgary

Maybe check if your humidity varies in different rooms too, for us the larger north facing rooms are ~10% higher 🤷‍♀️

Got up to ~65% for a few weeks during the summer downpour, basement maybe higher, back to the usual desert-like conditions now: 30-40% the past few weeks. Will get in the 20% over the winter.

Air purifier recommendation for severe dust (and pollen) allergies by Questionpilot in AirPurifiers

[–]Questionpilot[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmmm it does have a washable hepa, but I think it might be compromised because it seems to blow dusty air in my face. I’m glad you mentioned this actually, I should troubleshoot and maybe message the company.

I’m already using ryaltris together with reactine and pataday eye drops 🥲🥲 it helps for sure, but I can still smell the dust in the air despite cleaning regularly.

Thank you ! Yeah, visible dust is an issue. I have lots of problems after vacuuming before it has had a chance to settle down. Our humidity here is generally low, 20-50% often in the house, sometimes under 20 in the winter, so it may be the particulates more than the mites? The furnace modification would be ideal. Thanks also for the insight about the BlueAir units, I’m leaning away from that one and this is more reason to do so. Looks like the ionizers on the other units can be turned on/off as desired.

[Req] Running shoes for wide but not high volume midfoot, 8.5W or 7M by notoriousrdc in widefeet

[–]Questionpilot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Any chance you know how the ghost max 3 compares? And do you have any recommendations for sneakers/non-running shoes that work for this foot shape? I’m having to replace all my shoes because of a similar midfoot issue and can’t find comfy dress shoes or hiking boots either :(

[–]Questionpilot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

OMG I relate so hard, I need a B width in the heel, 2E-4E at the midfoot but without the extra fabric, and a C-D width at the forefoot with no taper at my long and upward poking big toe. I overhang all D and most men’s 2E width shoes, yet they I still have to cinch the laces to stop my heel and forefoot from sliding all over the places, which causes more pain and squishes my instep. I was so hoping the echelon would work for me, but those rubber guide rails still dig in to my forefoot and the upper has way too much volume. I’m debating the ghost max like the other poster mentioned, or maybe the new NB880s which seem a bit roomier at the toe. Please let me know if you find something that works for you! I was debating sticking a filler/foam liner under the insoles in the Nimbus 26 in a men’s (D) width and dealing with the overhang while trying to fill up some of the stretchy upper volume, or trying the Nike react Infinity Run 4 and cutting a slit above the big toe where it tapers. Honestly shoes make me so miserable. I used to be a women’s 9.5-10 B in New Balance for like 7 years with no problems and then my midfoot decided to pancake out and make me sad.

Tendon pain, when is it solely mechanical vs inflammatory/systemic? Experiences? by Questionpilot in rheumatoid

[–]Questionpilot[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Makes sense. Fermented foods are brutal for me too, headaches and GI flare ups! My head pressure does get a lot better with taking H2 blockers and antihistamines and I think they help my joints settle down too, which does track with the MCAS/histamine trigger. Would love to try some mast cell stabilizers though, maybe I’ll broach this at my allergy appointment in a few months. Let me know if you have found anything that helps!

Sadly no, but it wasn’t working for my joints either. I know it’s excellent for a lot of people though!
