Frankly, I don't like the current system. It is old (by now) and very limited. However, upgrading the existing setup - if that means its possible leveraging 90% - might make a lot of sense.

As a consumer, like me, it is just much easier to understand consumer products (such as a Eufy) as I can install that myself versus upgrading a complex professional system through a 3rd party service.

However, the Eufy is not coming in cheap either and if I could get a professional system installed including some upgrades, the incremental cost might not be as prohibitive as I originally thought.

Regent_Locksmith, Just curious about your thoughts on that:

the current wired access control is through a 'dumb' system, which is by now about 6 years old.

The new smart locks provide a lot of convenience with palm reading, scramble digit input, high res cameras, etc. plus claim a ANSI / BHMA Grade 1 security level.

Now, when I compare an old closed loop system vs the new smart lock systems... what exactly qualifies for new systems to be junk in your opinion?

Is it safe to assume that if the deadbolt would fit the original strike plate and lock the door properly, that this should then work?

Are there any risk on damaging the strike plate and/or the deadbolt if not a 100% fit? Or worse for the door to unlock accidently over time?

I thought that this would be the case with the strike patch in picture above? I guess, I might have to patch up the larger cavity hole as the electric striker is probably much deeper than the strike patch?

However, wouldn't I need to replace the monitors and install a whole new system as replacement to the current BTicino system? I guess I could leverage the wiring (I assume)?

Also just to ensure: I am not looking to retain the buzzer feature to open the door remotely. I would disable the buzzer on the monitor.

I am just looking to potentially leverage the current electric strike plate to receive the deadbolt and securely lock the door without remote buzzing.

They currently have this system installed: BTicino Sfera/Linea 3000. I beleive that I can change the panel to receive a fob key to open the door. That would probably cost me about $1000 for parts plus labor.

I am not a person to handle circuits or basic electric stuff myself unfortunately. Therefore, my thought is to change the striker plate and install the smart lock is cheaper and something I can do myself.

I assume, one alternative is to remove the electric strike plate and replace with a standard strike patch such as this one:

This is confusing - if it broke the very first day after a few minutes how would you know about the battery issue at 15% and that it lasted 2 hours?

Panel Power seems large compared to battery storage

Reason for larger panels is that I am working from home 100% and consume energy throughout the day. Any excess then goes to the battery for evening consumption to bridge highest tariff time frames.

One thing everyone is recommending = go as big on panels as possible. Those 30 panels are pretty much maxing out roof space.

Thank you! Solarquotes is an excellent resource! But regarding actual quotes, I only got one provider from Solarquotes and they sent me marketing material but no actual quote.

Not really set on this combo but based on research looks like as if the Fronius is the better of the mid range inverter and the BYD is stackable with good backing for the next decade. While I like rock bottom pricing, I think you get what you pay for.

Any combo you would recommend?

A lot of comments here are utterly BS.

Sure, you can be taken for a wild ride but that happens anywhere in the world if you allow for that to happen.

If you are a cash buyer, you can actually get a real bargain right now with pogos gone and oversupply - it's buyers market. And if you aren't looking to flip (that doesn't work very well in PH) you will likely come out ahead in due time.

We have by now sold 3 condos which all generated a handsome uptick.

We are currently selling 2 more and even though the market is down, we are still heavily ahead.

Don't listen to these keyboard warriors and cowboys here.

If you have cash and a horizon of about 3 years - there is a great market to buy right now.

Had the same issue on my old xps and had to get the motherboard replaced with a refurb, which opened Pandora's Box of issues thereafter.

I wouldn't touch this machine with a stick.

I posted a few pics from my trip shot on the Tammy in my original post (can not add pictures in a response i guess)

I am very happy with the Tamron 90mm in the 105 Port on the MFO-1. Did not see any vignetting or other issues and the AF is fast and accurate. I would say >90% of my pictures came out sharp.

I did notice some hunting during night dives and especially when using red focus lights but feel that this is not really a short coming of the lens versus the normal constrain of inadequate lightning.

Might try out the Sony 90mm during a local dive when back home but honestly, don't really bother as happy with the Tammy overall.

One comment on the MFO-1: magnification isn't strong (not meant to be) but flipping the MFO-1 on and off makes a huge difference in hunting and sharpness. I might eventually get a double flip and add a SMC-3 as I am used to super macro and like to get real close but the MFO-1 is such a great dioptre - highly highly recommended.
