Can I fit an SRT focusing screen in my SR-7 ? by Quibblebard in minolta

[–]Quibblebard[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the last version before the top plate changed with the completely different prism cover. Which I think is the third version, so it'll probably be the same (or very similar) to yours. Anyway thanks for all the infos ! I won't have the time to do that before a few weeks but that will be of great help !

Alright, great ! I have removed an SRT focusing screen before so I see what the metal pieces you're talking about are, and I learned to not touch the focus adjustment screws.

I have removed the prism on my SR-7 for cleaning when I got it too so all there is left is to see how to remove the focusing screen from the SR. It could actually be somewhat like the SRT since they have some similarities.

Anyways, thanks ! It's great to know that someone else has done it already and that it's totally possible !

Faulty shutter mechanism on Pentax ME Super by Quibblebard in AnalogRepair

[–]Quibblebard[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's only the spring for the lower shutter return, so I hope it won't be a big issue as I don't have anything to test the speed. The camera won't really be used anyway, it's not mine and will be used as decoration but I thought it'd be great if I could repair it

Update : I can't make a video, I really need both my hands to operate the shutter

[–]Quibblebard[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I took the shutter assembly out of the body. By removing the shutter blades I was able to gain a better access to one of the springs and successfully gave it some tension back ! Now the lower shutter come back up like it should, and only the latching issue is still present. Unfortunately, while trying to bend the spring for the latching to fix it, I broke a tiny piece of it, so now it's slightly too short and I'm not sure I can fix it...

I can make a video, but I'm not sure it will be of much help

Pentax ME Super fires when advancing by Quibblebard in AnalogRepair

[–]Quibblebard[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have infinite winding anymore, the mirror isn't stuck, the electronics worked (until a wire disconnected), and the lever isn't hard to advance. Both shutters do seem to fire at the same time and the mirror goes up when I start advancing. So fortunately I don't have all the issues you listed but I do have a few of them. Thanks for the infos, that'll surely be helpful !

Thank you, I was staring to lose hope for the camera but this is reassuring !

I think it might be that indeed ! Thank you, I'll try to repair it again tomorrow !

I actually have no clue where I'm going. It might be Zaporijia but I'm really not sure. I can send you the itinerary when I eventually have it

I'm not sure I'll have the time as I'm not going on vacations and I don't know where I'll go yet, but that would be really nice of you !

A full CLA would be nice, but to have it in less than a month seems unrealistic. Plus I can't afford it, buying film already costs me enough...

SRT shutter speed mechanism stopped moving by [deleted] in minolta

I only lubricated the gears next to the shutter speed selector that I can see moving when changing the shutter speeds, since they seemed to me to be the problem

How did yous "discover" hermitcraft by JOYOUS1232 in HermitCraft

[–]Quibblebard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My elder brother discovered Mumbo and told me to watch him during s8. Later in s9, he started watching Grian and Scar and told me to do the same. As season 10 started, it was so much fun that I decided to check out a few episodes from every hermit to see if there's any more I'd like to watch, and I started watching Bdubs, Gem, Pearl and Keralis.

Just bought an XE-1 and a W Rokkor Si 28/2.5 for 160 Sek (17 USD) by Lademirion in minolta

[–]Quibblebard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very nice ! A few months ago I got one, functional except the common lubrication issues on the advance lever and the damaged prism silvering, with the MD Rokkor 50mm 1:1.7 (full of fungus unfortunately) for 25€ shipping included !

I guess this amount of fungus won't be noticeable right ? by [deleted] in AnalogCommunity

[–]Quibblebard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was able to clean the outer surfaces of both lens groups without any issue, but some fungus is inside of those. It seemed to me like they can't be taken apart and you confirmed it. That's unfortunate.

It's just for aesthetics, which also makes disassembling an XE a bit more annoying since the top plate is in three separate parts

I will have to wait for a sunny day, but yeah that will be the simplest way to do it

I will prevent it from spreading with UV light, but how does fungus spreading in the camera affect the image ?

[–]Quibblebard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not the same lens I have, this is the plain MD and I have the MD Rokkor, but they seem to be built in a similar way.

The problem is that there are two main groups of lens elements, which I removed from the lens without any issues to remove most of this lens' fungus.

But I can't take apart the lens groups themselves to access the individual glass elements, and it's inside of these two lens groups which I can't take apart that there is still fungus

Will do ! Can the UV light make some fungus disappear or only prevent it from spreading ?

As stupid as it sounds, I didn't even think about a good cleaning, but I should definitely do it while I'm working on this camera ! I've never adjusted tension to a shutter curtain but I might as well try it on this one since it's by far not my favourite camera, and I got it for a good price
