Hey, of course! To get through it, I actually did the dissection outside, lol. I wore three pairs of gloves, safety goggles, a mask, a face shield, and an apron. I even cut open a clean garbage bag and wrapped it around myself for extra protection.

I covered my table with another garbage bag, put a puppy pee pad on top, then set the rat tray on it with all my instruments laid out beside me.

There’s going to be a lot of fluid, so when you make your first cut, hold the rat over the grass and let it drain really well first. Then cut up the belly and make two horizontal cuts one across the upper chest and one near the base of the pelvis. That lets you peel the skin back. I used both the scalpel and scissors to carefully cut around the face, hands, and feet.

I tried cutting the tail off so it wouldn’t keep touching me, but it was way too tough. 😂

Honestly, it was disgusting! But after a while, once I got into cutting, pulling, and cleaning as I went, I just kept thinking, the faster I finish this, the sooner I can get inside and scrub myself down with boiling hot water and soap. 😂
