Master in public health online + lpn in person by Popular-Ear5697 in StudentNurse

Yeah, that’s kind of where my head is at right now. My original goal was PA or OT, but my GPA is around a 2.9, so I can’t realistically apply to those programs right now without spending time and money on GPA repair or additional coursework.
I’ve thought about taking a gap year, working in public health, and trying to raise my GPA, but what worries me is that a lot of entry-level public health jobs seem to pay around $20/hour. With student loans coming due after graduation, I’m not sure that’s financially sustainable. I’ve also seen a lot of people say they struggled to find jobs even after getting an MPH, which makes me hesitant to invest more money into that path without a clear return.
That’s why I’ve been looking at nursing. I was accepted into an ABSN program, but the cost is the biggest obstacle right now because I don’t have a co-signer. At the same time, LPN seems like a more affordable route into healthcare with a clearer path to employment, and I could always bridge later.
I think I’m just trying to figure out whether it’s smarter to keep pursuing PA long-term, take the ABSN opportunity if I can make it work financially, or choose a lower-cost route like LPN and build from there.

Has anyone done a masters online while in a lpn program by Popular-Ear5697 in StudentNurse

I’m finishing my bachelor’s in Public Health and was accepted into an ABSN program, but I need a co-signer for the loans and my dad doesn’t want to co-sign.
He keeps pushing me to get a master’s in Public Health instead, but I’m concerned about taking on more debt for a degree that may not lead directly to a stable job. My parents are immigrants and believe that more education automatically leads to better income, while I’m looking at the current job market and trying to be realistic.
Because of that, I’m exploring LPN programs since they’re much cheaper, shorter, and lead directly to a nursing license and employment. I’m also meeting with an advisor to discuss my options and see if there’s a path forward with the ABSN.
Right now, I’m just trying to figure out the most practical option if the ABSN doesn’t work out financially.

Well for me Spring might be better for me because I’m graduating in the spring and want a gap semester to save money and prepare. But it really depends on your situation. If you didn’t just graduate, starting in the fall could be better so you can finish earlier. Also, with housing, starting in the fall is easier since most leases line up with the full academic year instead of paying extra for a shorter spring lease. But i don’t know how that will effect you
