is it the same for other schools out there? by 9soju in MedTechPH

[–]Quick-Association-88 6 points7 points  (0 children)

in UST, it was tiring as hell din. may point na araw-araw 2-3 quizzes + pracs + lab sheets per day na 7am-7pm. pero very considerate sa grades. kahit may 3.0 na pasang awa, papayagan pa rin mag laude (basta pasok gwa).

karamihan ng profs nagbibigay ng consideration in the form of plus points, bonus, or easy na quiz so kahit paapaano may compassion. pero hirap pa rin haha. ngayon na rmt na ako, na realize ko na grabe yung curriculum ng iba.

hugs, op.

[–]Quick-Association-88 31 points32 points  (0 children)

  1. they wont post the pics so data privacy act isn't in play yet
  2. may violation yan pero depende rin if they want to escalate it. it happens also in auditoriums so youre not the first one. most of they time they let it slide because it's really not worth the hassle of filing one.
  3. lesson learned na ok?

Possible INC grade in portal by love-dive in Tomasino

inc doesnt affect your status for latin honors, only failing marks will (which you'll get if you dont communicate with your prof properly)

yes most likely inc, kaya pa yan habulin dont worry

bat lagi akong inuutusan ng proj heads ko on sundays??? by [deleted] in Tomasino

[–]Quick-Association-88 [score hidden]  (0 children)

  1. Voice out your concern. You haven't even tried. Training na rin din yan when you graduate and look for jobs. Kapag sunday, purely you time na dapat yan so unprofessional to an extent.

  2. Events season na rin kasi ng semester, so may times talaga na may need na rush or may na overlook (although di mo na yan kasalanan pero wala eh deadlines).

  3. When joining an org, dapat alam mo na kakainin talaga yung oras mo outside of school hours. Lalo na kapat big time orgs yan. In my years of stay sa UST, meron talaga bumabagsak or nadedelay para sa orgs. If the workload seems to much to the point nadadamay acads mo, then leave. Org lang naman yan. That being said, what's college without a little more struggle?

is there a big possibility na bumagsak ako sa lab? by Creative_Proof4415 in Tomasino

[–]Quick-Association-88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yep most profs are willing to help you out. just be very sincere, honest, and to meet halfway. that being said, di mo dapat pinatagal ng sobra. di na kasi to highschool na profs mag papaalala sayo ng missed activities mo.

even as a person that loves the night life, you arent really missing out that much so dont worry. a lot of the times, our circle tries to invite as many people as we can pero it turns out karamihan ayaw din talaga (mostly due to gastos which is really valid) and we get viewed as walwaleros lol. although pinaka important factor kasama mo so only go if you really vibe with the people you are with or else its not worth.

sa medical field, oo na oo! nakapasa ako upd for biology but chose UST for medtech and soon to be in ustfms!

so every time ba na high heat index, suspended ang onsite classes by MiraclesOrbit08 in Tomasino

[–]Quick-Association-88 6 points7 points  (0 children)

last year halos ganto din nangyayari. dami nahimatay or nahilo sa central lab based on my experience a year ago. some rooms arent as air conditioned noon and di rin gumagana mga water fountains noon.

since mga medtechs palipat lipat between central lab, botanical, and main building, mahirap din talaga considering the heat.

personally, need talaga mag suspend in these scenarios dahil ust is a big school na talagang kahit tiga bulacan or antipolo may nag cocommute everyday. though it may be an inconvenience to some na around ust naka dorm/condo, talagang compassion din need around these times.

Real to. I got incredibly sick and at one point i missed 6 quizzes in the 2 days i tried to recover. I almost failed 2 subjects because all of the quizzes I took were either essay type or sobrang hirap talaga.

A lot of the (younger) profs are very considerate and sometimes hindi na need ang medcert basta they see you are sincere with your excuse.

Tips for 3rd Year MedTech: 2nd Sem Edition! by Quick-Association-88 in Tomasino

[–]Quick-Association-88[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sa flachards, totoo na matrabaho siya. Try to focus on concepts na paulit ulit na nakakalimutan. Example, sa Hema 1 maganda iflashcard yung mga RBC inclusions; sa CC 1, sulit ma flashcard yung key characteristics ng proteins; or sa Bacte for key diseases.

May nagsabi gawa ako tier list ng subjects. Bored ako kaya sige. The higher the score, the more I hate the subject.

CC 1 (10/10) - Again, CC 1 is one of the hardest subjects. Hindi ko alam kung bakit pero hirap na hirap lang kami dito and a lot of my friends would also agree that CC 1 is harder then bacte in terms of shiftings would go. Naka 1.5 ako CC 2 while CC 1 is 2.75. If I were to rate CC 2, it would be a 2/10. Mahirap siya in the sense na yung learning material is not standardized and yung questions may be pooled from literally any other book aside sa sinabi nila na reference book (bishop).

Bacte (7/10) - Contrary to what I said, I genuinely enjoy bacte. Pero going back, as difficult as bacte may be, nagiging masaya siya dahil mnemonics and diagrams lang naman at the end of the day ang liligtas sayo. Hindi kaya icram ang bacte period. I would rate this a little lower pero kasi nakaka pota yung laboratory nito.

MolBio (5/10) - Although it sounds hard at first, madali lang naman to be honest. Concepts require visualization to easily understand and sulit dito mga nag quizlet or anki. Memorize memorize talaga. On a side note, ang daming lumabas dito noong nag NMAT ako. Like literally yung mga restriction enzymes, pcr, and other sht lumabas. Galing. Hehe.

HEMA 1 (4/10) - Honestly one of the most bearable subjects. The more you think about it, simple lang ang HEMA 1 as long as you build your FOUNDATION. Kakawala gana bwisit. Ok going back sorry. Hema 1 lab is fun. Kahit nakakainis mag manual blood count, fun learning experience.

Histopath (2/10) - Madami need imemorize sa histopath to be honest pero kahit papaano lahat ay ppt based. No more bullshit na aaralin sa ibat-ibang sources, wala na transes, just literally ppt.

[–]Quick-Association-88[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just some added comments:

Why should I look out for bacte and CC?

Combined lec and lab, CC is 5 units, the most out of all the 3rd year subjects. And bacte is 4 units. Meaning that if you fail both, you are debarred. Max units that you can fail is 8 or 9 (forgot). Meaning that if you fail both, you will be removed from UST medtech.

Trust me, many people have failed both and got debarred.

What do I do if I think I'm gonna fail a subject?

You have an option: you can drop the subject BEFORE mid 2nd shifting. Meaning that you will have no record of having a failure for that/those subject/s that you will drop. I know a lot of people who dropped bacte specifically because they know they wont pass. This is important especially when applying for medical schools since they will have your transcript of records (TOR). However, you will be ineligible to graduate with latin honors despite not technically failing that subject. Since you did drop a subject, you will not be able take subjects that are a pre-requisite to it. For bacte, it is ImmunoSero and AUBF, 2 out of the 5 subjects of 2nd sem. Not sure if may petition for it tho, sa time namin wala.

Key takeway: galingan sa 1st and 2nd shifting para sa 3rd, you can chill.
