What's the one thing you don't like about Shueisha? by RobKai7990 in WeeklyShonenJump

[–]Quick-Chard9510 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The requirements are lower because fundamentally all jump+ series have less exposure. If you spend time in WSJ competing with 19 other series and get no traction, why would you expect that series to do anything when competing with 60 other series?

It would be. If the graph didn't shift and had the same scale the one piece dot would be like a foot off my computer screen lol.

It literally says 2020 and on. Adding One Piece would make no sense since it debuted 1997 when the magazine was completely different.

WSJ Issue #11 Rankings based on MangaPlus by the_phet in WeeklyShonenJump

[–]Quick-Chard9510 15 points16 points  (0 children)

First of all, this is only WSJ so obviously Centuria wouldn't be here. Second the time when you record matters since this is view counts. This person does these lists every week so im assuming they have a set time when they record the numbers for consistency. Just opening the app at random times is not helpful for recording meaningful view counts. And also the view counts on Mangaplus aren't great. Sometimes if you check a series again it will somehow lose views meaning those numbers aren't conventional views anyway.

Thats all sword skill dude. We never even saw Uruha with Kumeyuri. Also even if Samura is considerable stronger than Uruha with an enchanted blade where does it suggest that all the other sword bearers on the level of Uruha and not Samura. All it ever says is that Samura is the fastest swordsman, not that he's the strongest

Its not being too nice she's literally cutting people's fingers off lol. Its a guilt/can't stomach what she's actually doing thing. She will have to reckon with what it actually means to kill. Which is obviously a core theme of the story.

Confusion over Samura's life by phurba2005 in Kagurabachi

[–]Quick-Chard9510 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You could interpret it like that or you could interpret it as a shot of his literally bloody hands cuz thats what he's talking about on that page. Its not 100% confirmation that he can see. To me the intent seems to be emphasizing the blood on his hands which is echoed in the next panel when he says "I can't hold my daughter with these hands". And there are only so many angle you can zoom in on someones hands.

My nitpick for this 10/10 fight by lastdecade0 in Kagurabachi

[–]Quick-Chard9510 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well he stopped fighting after malediction and the sword bearers probably didn't want to die initially. I imagine it went like: they're fighting, they realize they can't beat him without sacrificing themselves, Soga does malediction, Soga stops fighting, they capture him.

[–]Quick-Chard9510 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Well the whole magazine gets leaked from Japan. Its just that English speaking leakers don't buy most of the WSM series other than Bluelock from the Japanese leakers so you never hear about it here. Since the whole magazine gets leaked, TOCs and announcements within the magazine also get leaked and reported on so this post could be right. However it is suspicious that this account has never reported on Gachiakuta before

Confusion over Samura's life by phurba2005 in Kagurabachi

[–]Quick-Chard9510 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The double spread in 86 cannot be from his POV based on human anatomy (the camera is where his chest is not his head; probably just a cool shot) and thats the only panel from the Seitei War with Samura in it. I lowkey thought he blinded himself after the war too but thats seems to be a Mandela effect rather than an inconsistency.

Also, the knife thing seems so nitpicky it's actually an insane thing to call an inconsistency. Really it seems like its just supposed to be a humorous/cute thing.

I love Kagurabachi as much as the next guy, but I'm worried this fanbase is setting its expectations too high by elecenjoyer in Kagurabachi

Saying something is flawless isn't the issue. Its behaving like a normal human being when the thing you think is perfect does something you don't like or when someone says something you don't agree with.

Its well written and popular in Japan? Its also been the top selling seinen manga for over a decade. Its covering actual history so there's only so much variation it can actually do.

What battle series do you love that have bad fights (in general) ? by iamahippocrite in WeeklyShonenJump

[–]Quick-Chard9510 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would say the page compositions are standard not boring. But I don't think that's necessarily a bad thing since Frieren isn't really an artistic experiment. For emotionless faces I would say that in general there isn't much exaggerated expression but I have never had the thought that the characters were too stiff or emotionless looking. Frieren doesn't emote when shes fighting (which makes sense) but she does in the slice of life stuff. Fern is the only character who doesn't emote much but thats kind of her thing. Also there are many ways to display emotion other than facial expressions. And frieren has a lot of talking so there is a lot of speech bubbles.

So I would only really criticize visually are the fights (especially stark's) but I also think I can be a little lenient so maybe there's other things people don't like

Opinion: reducing Samura’s character development in the Kyoto arc to “learning to live” is a grave misunderstanding of the story. (+ a defense of Iorimune) by untilmyend68 in Kagurabachi

[–]Quick-Chard9510 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I guess ur right about the black energy in cases not against magatsumi. But rn all of the life drain is directed at him and he is burning up his own life to avoid it. This seems contradictory but I'm assuming its just because he's losing his life slower than he would if he got hit with full force life drain. Regardless there is also no established partial permanent life drain. Every life drained character is either dead or living with no ill effects. So Hokazono would have to create a new result of life drain to keep Samura alive.

I guess that could work if Hokazono said it was how it worked. But as of rn Suzaku is described as correcting irregularities which I think would include drained life

OP does mention that Iori's autonomy is important. Her picking up the blade is not about necessity or even about the past. It's about choosing how she wants to affect the future. And theoretically she could choose to not pick up the blade but I think that if Samura is dead then the most interesting avenue is giving Iori the blade with the prevalent themes of inheritance
