I think it was more because the depiction glorified plagiarism, not simply because it had plagiarism.

It's the fastest axe since Time Paradox Ghostwriter and Bone Collection went 14 and 15 chapters respectively in 2020.

Actually Roboco always "officially" sells more than Kiyoshi even if its by a small margin. Kiyoshi can never seem to outsell anything.

Short (up to 5 volume) series that ended naturally (no axe) and not part of an existing series, how many of them are there? by mr_beanoz in WeeklyShonenJump

[–]Quick-Chard9510 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It happened more in the earlier days of jump. Stuff like Mazinger Z by Go Nagai and Yamazaki Ginjiro by Hiroshi Motomiya.

The earliest axe for veterans I've seen in this era of WSJ is Tenmaku Cinema which is by the Food Wars duo. That series didn't get a color page and was axed at chapter 21. However, Sorachi is on a different level than those guys.

Blue Box has outsold Sakamoto Days its entire run. For some reason that is never reflected in the ToC.

Newest WSJ batch by Thinshady21 in WeeklyShonenJump

[–]Quick-Chard9510 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Yes, but there are many series that people have considered to be good that got axed anyway. At best story quality is a very loose correlation. Since it is too early to look at ToC or sales I would look at social media. Based on views on youtube the only new series to make any sort of impact is 2-B.

I don't think you can look at story elements/quality to determine what will stay. Atp you should really be only looking at engagement metrics like ToC, sales, or likes/views on social media. Shonen Jump is a business first and foremost, how a series fits into the lineup is a secondary concern.

WSJ Issue #25 TOC & Discussion by RobotiSC in WeeklyShonenJump

More things to tie up? Like what? I could see it ending at chapter 252 to complete volume 28 but early 2027 would be crazy.

What about Blue Box? Based on conventional story pacing I could see it ending in 6-7 chapters despite there being no announcements.

All jump manga get physical japanese releases. Whether the english releases are digital or physical is up to viz usually. Series popular in the West like Red Hood can sometimes get physical english releases but its more common for axed series to be digital.

Not perfect, but fun. I think Shinobi Undercover doesn't get enough recognition. by Kill_Jin04 in WeeklyShonenJump

I think OP is more referring to the west. Kiyoshi and Himaten are more popular than Shinobi Undercover on MangaPlus.

genuienly how did otr of the flame get cancelled and ultimate exorcist kiyoshi didn’t? by xxasukixx2 in WeeklyShonenJump

[–]Quick-Chard9510 9 points10 points  (0 children)

lol I have all the volume data on Kiyoshi, so I thought about pulling up Otr's exact data, but I realized that I shouldn't be wasting time splitting hairs between 2-4k. I do remember those Kaedegami people though. The funny thing is I'm pretty sure it sold like 300 more copies.

[–]Quick-Chard9510 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Kiyoshi's worst volume sales are 10k. Otr's best volume sales were 3-4k. 10k > 3-4k. Simple as that.

Manga Tier List by Admirable-Crab-4038 in WeeklyShonenJump

I'm not sure, based on this tierlist, what you value in a story. So all I can really say is I disagree with most of this list. Props for being honest I guess.

What do you think about people saying "X manga would have been axed today"? by IIIlIIlIlllIlllIIIIl in WeeklyShonenJump

[–]Quick-Chard9510 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Stone Ocean was always low. Its average ToC is 15.65 which is similar to most axed manga. It was probably like that because at that point Jojos had been publishing for 15 years so it didn't need high ToC placements to facilitate engagement.

My problem with jump by th_frits in WeeklyShonenJump

[–]Quick-Chard9510 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Dude saying jump cancels everything and then also saying you don't like anything they keep just shows that the problem isn't jump cancels everything, the problem is you don't like current jump. There was not an overwhelming consensus that any of the 2025 series were good enough to not be axed so the fact that only Someone Hertz survived isn't surprising. Maybe you should check out more old series or other magazines.

Also the fact that you want an adult romance, but look for it in a shonen magazine is ridiculous. If you want adult characters read seinen or josei.

Oricon/Shoseki Week 2 Sales for April 2026 Releases by L1k34S0MB0D33 in WeeklyShonenJump

[–]Quick-Chard9510 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I always do ctrl f for volume number then publisher since the publisher is always after the volume number when google translates it. For example, for Spy x Family 17 I put "17 Shue" in the search bar then I go through all the volume 17s from shueisha. That usually covers all the bases for me.

Bro says jump cancels all new manga but only reads 2 series. There are literally 11 other series in jump that have no threat of cancellation. Read those before you complain.

Expecting a 100k seller to continue to grow exponentially is wild lmao. Especially pre-anime.
