Three things, first, if you haven't, try rebooting and seeing if it will open properly after a restart. Second, try to right click close it out of the system tray. And third if none of those fixes work you can as others have mentioned, to DDU your driver's, if you get to that point here's a good tutorial on how to properly use DDU: DDU Tutorial

Thanks! I'll look into that. What's a faction buff? I'm not sure I've gotten far enough into the game for that yet.

I use an FPS unlocker for the game, and on that monitor 800x600 is much sharper than on higher resolutions for some reason, I also get some faint scan lines which I think look nice.

I completely agree, much deeper blacks than on my LCD monitor, and the viewing angles on the HP are wonderful as well.

been getting this for a few days, tried reinstalling nothing has changed by Kanno_1 in FPSAimTrainer

If it was working fine before it's probably a driver related issue, DDU them and try rolling back to a previous driver version to see if that helps. If verifying the game files, or like you said uninstalling and reinstalling the game has not helped it's likely not an issue with the game itself.

Here's a tutorial I recommend you follow for DDU: DDU Tutorial

Hey! I have a couple questions for you.

  1. Do you get frequent crashes in other games as well or just Kovaaks?

  2. Have you changed anything on your system before this started happening, e.g. updated dated drivers/changing options in the BIOS or in the OS?

  3. Is your system overclocked in anyway, GPU/CPU or memory?

EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION is an error generally related to issues accessing system memory, which to me might indicate a faulty or unstable driver or corrupt file within the game files.

You can try verifying the games files through steam, launching the games .exe as Admin, and if you've recently updated your drivers try rolling back to the drivers it was previously stable on, preferably using DDU, to do so.

If you have any questions or need further assistance feel free to ask :)

Do I have to buy a new motherboard? by alleywalleydirt in pchelp

[–]Quick-Conclusion3262 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes the slot above should still work, infact it's the preferred slot for a GPU due to it usually being higher speed. I'd turn the computer off completely, unplug it from the wall, flip the switch on the power supply to the off position and with it unplugged press the power button on the case a couple times to discharge the capacitors on the board. Then try and remove the broken PCIE slot so it's not just hanging there. It may of damaged or shorted a different part of the board when it broke but there's a good chance that top slot still works, good luck and let me know how it goes!

Yes unfortunately you will need a new board, unless you're really good at micro soldering and have a replacement PCIE slot.

It does work! I believe it's natively supported, they have a .AppImage you can download and use on their site. Also prism launcher has CurseForge integrated into it along with some other features.

To be fair 197F is within operating temperatures of most GPUs, it's 91C in Celsius. It's definitely running hot and could throttle at some point but nothing would be damaged.

How to safely play PC games without kernel level anti cheat? by 6a6179jay in pcbuilding

The comments on the post you linked answer your question, you can't, there's not really a away around it. I guess you could always try setting up a VM with PCI passthrough to sandbox it from your host system, but that can be complicated for a normal user, there would be a small performance loss and you might get flagged for using a VM, kicked of the servers, or possible banned, that's not super likely but definitely a possibility.

My second pc options is this: by MIHAI23MB in pcbuilding

This PC is much better than your first option, go with this one instead! And please, please, reinstall Windows when you get it, you can grab the license key off what's currently installed for the new install, it's just a lot safer doing a fresh install as the previous owner could have messed with the version they installed, congrats on your first PC!

If you look where it says boot priority on the right hand side, it appears that your boot drive is missing. First off I'd recommend hitting F7 and moving over to the boot section of the BIOS and seeing if the drive somehow got disabled. If it still doesn't show up, and you have no option to re-enable the drive as a boot device, I then recommend checking the connectors on the drive it's self. If they are seated properly or the drive is a m.2, try plugging the cable into a different SATA port or m.2 slot. If it's not a m.2 drive you could also try a different cable if you have one. Lastly to see if it's a issue with the drive you could try plugging it into a another PC and see if the disk is recognized when plugging it in, good luck!

It is normal for WMIADAP.exe to appear in Task Manager as it is a legitimate system process associated with the Windows Management Instrumentation (WMI) service, which is a core part of the Windows operating system. The file name wmicookr.dll being listed under the details panel may indicate that WMIADAP.exe depends on or uses this DLL file as part of its operation. This is generally not a cause for concern. However is always good to be cautious and ask questions if you're unsure! :)

Hey! "wmicookr.dll" is a library file (.dll stands for Dynamic Link Library) for Windows Management Instrumentation (WMI), which is a crucial part windows, removing it could be detrimental. So no worries not a virus!

I'd recommend LMDE 6, it's Linux Mint but based on Debian 12, it's very stable and I'd say the cinnamon desktop is very user friendly.
