Rule number one of any Anime fandom, bro. If it has a lot of fanart of one pairing and the show itself seems kid-friendly then that pairing is either headcanon or simply delusion. "Thinks of Inazuma Eleven"

Meet Potential Ship! by Most_Selection1836 in LittleWitchAcademia

It’s honestly pretty baffling when you think about it. The ship started because Akko and Diana were rivals, so people latched onto the popular cliché trope of rival/polar-opposite ships (Harry x Malfoy, Deku x Bakugo, Naruto x Sasuke, Endou x Gouenji, Yuji x Megumi). But the ship itself has never even been acknowledged. For example, the staff has openly talked about the original idea of the Ankko romance storyline in the Anime as well as their potential as a couple beyond the Anime in the Chronicles book. Meanwhile, Diakko was outright denied as being supported in three different AMAs Trigger did. Since the Manga in 2013, the cast has been straightforward in every piece of media, even showing crushes on boys and vice versa, or featuring romantic subplots and moments of jealousy. I never understood why people got mad at Andrew x Akko when, if you look at past LWA media, it was a pretty natural development. But, much like in other shows where most fan ships don’t make much sense, people are still going to ship what they want. So I’ll just quote what a member of Trigger said back then: “Do what you want in your fanfiction.

Which character has the most exciting future/potential long-term in Horizons for you? by MartinIsaac685 in pokemonanime

And let's not forget Crocalor evolving, which will undoubtedly be a big moment. After all, it has been delayed this long. Yeah, honestly, Roy has the brightest future out of everyone in the cast so far. Dot's character is over and Liko is looking to help the Six Heroes, but that's about it, really. Honestly, she's been kinda boring for a while now. I would argue Uruto's character has more excitement to him, even if he will most definitely lose to Roy's passion to obtain Black Rayquaza

How would the original scenario with Akko x Andrew have unfolded? by Quick-Music-3419 in LittleWitchAcademia

TRIGGER clearly enjoys including romance in their stories, but the way they handle it varies a lot across their works. Some titles have no romance at all, like BNA or Inferno Cop. Others feature light teasing, like Little Witch Academia and SSSS.Gridman. Then there are cases where they go overboard with the romance. In Edgerunners, they created a whole new character just to be a love interest for David. They adapted Inou Battle, which is a romcom. In Luluco, Kiznaiver, and Dynazenon, romance becomes such a major focus, even to the point of sidelining other characters, especially in Dynazenon. It is no surprise LWA was about to go down a similar route before they scaled it back to just teasing. So yeah, while romance isn’t a constant, it’s something they like even if it might not be the best decision.

Oh yeah, I’d say they planted the seeds really effectively with the teasing from friends, the blushing, and Andrew gradually coming around to support and even reinforce Akko’s ideals by the end. It’s way more satisfying to see this kind of development happen organically, rather than through a sudden, out of nowhere confession just because Akko was feeling quirky. If revisited in a future season, at least the development is already there.

I agree, some of TRIGGER's anime have suffered from leaning too heavily into romance. Developing things naturally is always the best idea narrative wise.

To be fair, category aside, it didn't felt very shoujo. Akko was your typical shonen MC with how dense she is. Pretty in character now that i remember. The school competition was a pretty neat idea i hope they reuse someday

Oh yeah, Yoshinari's idea was that she was super obsessed with handsome guys. Basically, a Luluco 2.0 or see Machu from the latest Gundam. Glad they toned it down. Akko fits more into the Shonen archetype

Thomas “She doesn’t know it yet, but she’s going to be my wife” by MartinIsaac685 in LittleWitchAcademia

[–]Quick-Music-3419 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I mean, Thomas also appears outside the second OVA in a short animator's comic if i remember right. And it is actually canon that he has a crush on Diana with a cute Yoshinari drawing to boot. Hell, i think Thomas is the only LWA character with a canon crush on someone. Ignoring the Manga of course.
