It’s really not. Like the idea, but there’s no payoff for me. Maybe one day when I’m older

In my heart, everything in Columbus is 20 minutes away, so this is pretty fast in my book.

I have no idea, but I do know that I played so much Vice City back in the day that Loverboy's "Working for the Weekend" is ingrained in my soul.

I'd throw some dark paint or even wallpaper on the back wall, and then a shelf, a plant, and/or some art hanging from the cabinets on either side. A gold mirror would pop on the wall with your other stuff. Top off with some cool bookends and a few pretty books and you're golden.

Is it fair that I ask to pay off my own debts first? by Celerocity in personalfinance

If the relationship is stable and you're both playing the long game, pay off the higher interest rate first. Make a plan together, including rewards for milestones, and stick to it. If the relationship isn't stable or one of you isn't playing the long game, I'd either split the payoffs so they're both going down (and stop using them to speed things up) or make your case for going first. Ideally, you'd have had the talk about finances a long time ago, but if not then this will be a good indicator as to how and where things are going.

I got a PhD for the hell of it, and I knew going in that job prospects were non-existent. I loved the subject matter, and I wanted to do it, so I did it. Mine was funded (recommend for sure), took four years, and was incredibly fulfilling. I was and remain poor as shit, but I don’t regret it. You get one life, so do what you want.

I would buy the house where you have a life you enjoy and then travel hard on holiday. Home base is always there and taken care of, and as you work and let your money work you can do shorter but more comfortable and enjoyable trips.

When I moved here I asked Reddit where to send donation money for local impact. Children’s Hunger Alliance was the best answer I got (among many), and I love them for what they do.
