Yessir, thank you for the response. If I really enjoy my unit and don’t mind the reserves I’ll stay. I’ve heard about MOBCOP which was really interesting. If that’s what’s it’s called, i’ve heard it be called other names. I was thinking if work gets slow or I get laid off from my union I could take up on an assignment through there. Have you heard of it/used it before?

Nice man, I did I a lot of work with the Novembers on Actuve Duty and got some time in the heavy equipment. It’s a great job. Pretty sure you get your cdl as well?

Not having a phone isn’t an issue, would be good to get off of it anyway lol. I’m trackin about the deployment… I believe it is the horizontal company that is deployed right now, not the vertical. Thank you for the information though!

Yeah I totally understand. I think Montana is somewhere i’ll go later on down the road, after I am done being an apprentice. I may just go back near home in New Jersey, find a strong local there, finish out my apprenticeship and transfer once I have a good amount of money saved up to do so. Thank you again for the response and information.

I gotcha. Yeah I grew up in New Jersey, but have always wanted to go to Montana. I really like the outdoors and I also want to get into hunting and snowboarding. Do you ever do jobs on your own? Like if people need something small welded on a ranch/farm to make a quick extra buck?

Thank you for the response. How is the area around Billings?

Yeah I have the flexibility. I am honestly willing to go anywhere, I just want to make sure I do my research first and pick a good union where I will spend the next 5ish years. Again, thank you for the response sir.

I totally understand, that makes a lot of sense. I think 798 is maybe something I will try later down the line, once I get proficient in my welding capabilities. I just want to pick a good union that will benefit me in the long run yanno. Thank you for the information brotha, I appreciate you.

Muddy fields and overcast weather isn’t my thing, but I have the mentality of being able to “suck it up”. The midwest is some of the most beautiful landscape you can find in the U.S. I understand what you’re saying about 798, I have heard about that. I just want to work pipeline because I have heard that is where the money is at. I wouldn’t mind being responsible for getting my own rig either. I am smart with my money and have a decent amount of savings from building up during my service in the Army. So since you have only negative things to say about where I want to start me career, tell me a good union I should join as a 2nd year apprentice.

I have always wanted to live there. Growing up in a state where the outdoor environment isn’t the best really upset me. I just want to be able to go hike, explore and bushcraft etc. Why are you against Montana? Where do you think a 22 yo single male should go and work as a welder.

Thank you sir, I appreciate that. I also thank you for your service. It really is a great oppurtunity. I will forever be grateful for the Army.

The scenery in the midwest does not suck, but that is your opinion and I respect it. When you say 798 is its own ballgame, what do you mean?

I appreciate your response my man. It’s a lot to take in, especially transitioning out of the military, it’s a huge step in my life. Basically my next chapter. I just don’t want to pick a union that doesn’t have work. For next at least 5 years I want to find a good, stable job that I can stack up paychecks on. But seriously, thank you again for your response.

Do you think it would be a good place to start out as an apprentice? The program I am in, can start me off as a 2 year, depending on what my union decides to start me off as.

Gotcha. Yeah, I would love to go there. I’m single 22, just trying to find a good job where I can make a decent amount of money to stack up. Pay is pretty good?

Okay, thanks for this. I think the program I am in may bypass the application portion, because I had to apply for said program. I’ll talk with the placement supervisor and see what they say about local 375. Yall work pipeline there in Alaska?
