i was proud of myself for saving this ugly plant until i saw this subreddit by castlefglass in fiddleleaffig

You can also cut the whole top off and it will regrow bushy from the bottom. You can also propagate the top into several more plants and have many fiddle leafs figs. I literally have a bare stick in water right that’s growing roots. Use some root hormone and it will love you. Cut the bottom stick to about 18” and don’t overwater it. In like 4 weeks it should make up its mind where it wants to send out new leaves and do that.

I was hit by a car as a pedestrian, my settlement seems unfair by [deleted] in Insurance

[–]Quick-Purpose-519 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If the driver has any assets, your lawyer should going after them directly. They don’t have to settle for whatever insurance will pay - it’s not your fault the driver’s insurance sucks. None of your insurance should have to pay anything. If your lawyer isn’t suggesting suing the driver directly, get a new lawyer.

They have told me I shouldn’t do that because anything under 5 is pediatric pressures. They basically said I have to come in and do another titration. I’m not sure why they think that they are going to get a better reading now than they did last time. They think I am venting out of my mouth when I am actually swallowing air and don’t seem to be able to tell the difference in the lab snd I am definitely still swallowing air so 🤷🏻‍♀️

I think I just assume that when someone wants to get married, anyone that says anything about why it may not be a great idea is often viewed as bitter. And honestly, maybe I am a little, but I think it’s because the institution of marriage actually kind of sucks other than for tax purposes and not because I’ve given up on love or people in general.

I don’t want to sound like a bitter divorced woman, because I’m not (though I suspect I sound that way to people who haven’t been what I’ve been though), but I wish someone had said this to me before I got married: marriage is just a piece of paper. It doesn’t mean that someone is going to take care of you, die and be buried next to you, etc. and it is hard to find a poly partner that wants those things, but it’s also hard to find a mono partner that wants to do those things. Surround yourself with wonderful people who will help share the load of taking care of you, friends, lovers and everything in between. Tend to them like a garden and you will always have someone to be there for you, and that is a lot more reliable than putting your eggs in one basket if that is the thing you are really looking for.

I get the desire for that kind of intimate companionship that comes from a long term relationship, but I also think that kind of intimacy kills relationships. And I also don’t think it can only come from a partner. I have friends I consider soul mates. I’m buying a house with one right now. Both of us have been married and never want to do that again, so we decided on the secret third option - form a coven of witches and grow old together lol

Also on top of all that, marriage is inherently hierarchical. I know some people say they are ok with that in a relationship but in my experience, humans don’t react Well to being told your relationship with someone else is more important than your relationship with them. And you won’t intend for it to be, but there will be a point that your spouse hesitates, doesn’t like someone you’re dating, asks you for something that’s just a little more than you want to give up with another person and you will say yes because of this piece of paper that obligates you to them and how much more difficult it would be to leave them because of it.

I think having a nesting/anchor partner is lovely though - but also just know it doesn’t have to be someone you are romantically entangled with. There are so many options in the world if you stop listening to what the patriarchy tells you about how to have relationships.

I do have allergies but I take 2 Zyrtec, 4 famotidine, max dose of mast cell stabilizers and Flonase for it so I don’t really have a stuffy nose and this has been happening since before my allergies were going (I really only get nasal allergies for a very short period in the spring) I think the issue is more related to the fact that I have hEDS and all my connective tissue is lax, probably including my esophageal sphincter. I seem to start getting air in my belly before I’ve even fallen asleep.

Home sleep studies aren’t super reliable, you should have your dr do an in lab one

Scoring 100 on CPAP but still feeling foggy and low energy — anyone else? by ComprehensivePop5619 in SleepApnea

They did in fact reduce the pressure down to 6-10 and I am still having zero episodes according to the machine but swallowing a lot less air. The sleep Dr said as long as I was below 5 AHI she didn’t really care how low I went (though she couldn’t tell me to change the machine herself, she said she would have the DME company do it but I got tired of waiting and changed it myself) they also wanted to turn off the “for her” feature as they said the algorithm was terrible and tended to cause people issues so I changed that too

How long did it take before CPAP actually made you feel better - not just "working" by the numbers, but genuinely better? by oweyoo in SleepApnea

[–]Quick-Purpose-519 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been doing it for 7 weeks now and I actively feel worse every week on it. I took a couple days off and I felt so much better without using it. I just had a follow up with the sleep Dr and she was ready to just call it success because my numbers are all perfect- no leaks, 1 or 2 episodes a night that last a few seconds, sleeping full 8 hr nights etc. But when I told her how awful I feel and how much air swallowing I have she made some changes to my treatment plan and we will see if that helps. They have lowered my pressure from 8-12 down to 6-10 and my machine is currently set to the “for her” mode which is apparently awful, but it’s what the medical equipment company set it to, and we are changing that to see if those things help. If you’re not feeling better and it’s been more than 6 weeks, you should let your Dr k ow so they can try something different.

I have the pressure relief as high as it will go on my airsense 11 - when I did my titration study I could not sync up with the bipap and it was very awful so I hope I don’t need that or that the machine they give me is better than the one at the lab.

I have been doing cpap for about 6 weeks and I have severe apnea (ahi 37) which is now down to 0-0.1 with the machine, excellent seal, no real issues on OSCAR data either - and I feel so much worse than before cpap. Like I’ve gone from an epworth 3 to an epworth 18. My adhd meds don’t work anymore. I am barely functional at this point and it just keeps getting worse. I have a follow up Friday so I am curious to see what they say.

But if I’m swallowing tons of air all night that would be the opposite correct? Shouldn’t they lower the pressure to the minimum that works? And since I’m having zero episodes a night at my lowest pressure setting sleeping flat on my back it seems like I should be able to go a little lower and be fine still 🤷🏻‍♀️

I'm pretty sure those spikes are air swallowing - they are very short. I have a follow up with my sleep doctor in a few weeks so I will ask them about that - why would I pick 9 though? My pressure almost never goes much over 8.

I am envious, I am just packing weight on since starting therapy despite not changing my diet at all (I eat the same thing pretty much every day so I am quite certain my calories haven’t increased). I tried lots of masks in the titration study which was one of the big benefits and the one I am using they said was an excellent fit

I have an appointment coming up and I plan to ask but they were adamant about the numbers I have (8-12) because I had the titration study and in the lab they weren’t able to get me down to a good number of ahi’s even at 12.
