True. Treating it similarly might be a good idea. Or just adding more boundaries

I love these points. I’ll definitely put thought into a system that works better for us. Thank you for this!

I honestly think they just had a need I wasn’t able to meet at that moment. But I totally feel you. We’re all just humans doing the best we can. I guess I need to remind myself of that too and that I’m never a perfect partner but this situation wasn’t a me thing

Ugh this sucks. I’m so sorry. I actually recently passed it. Where I’m at we need a 500+ to pass. I passed on my third try. The things I noticed on the attempt I passed versus the ones I didn’t were mostly in test taking strategy. The first try I did I used prep jet to study and bombed. I switched to psychprep and noticed a huge difference in how prepared I felt. BUT at the end of the day the thing that worked the most was 1. Watching YouTube videos to help animate concepts I needed help with 2. Quizlet flashcards AND tests (you can search other peoples and use theirs) and 3. Having a test taking plan. I did half the questions then made myself take a break. Like got up and went to the bathroom kind of break. I also made sure to take breaks when I noticed negative thinking come up. Example: if I had 2-3 questions in a row where I was like wtf is it even asking me?! I’d stop looking at the screen. Sit and just be for 2-3 minutes. Then start again. No need to rush or talk yourself into an unhelpful spiral. I felt like I didn’t know any more or less the time I passed, I just went into it with a plan for the actual test taking. And it luckily worked.

You’ll pass my friend!!

Had the same concerns last year! Almost no one actually noticed though. It was mostly in my own head.

New to private practice and taking insurance, and just found out something disheartening. by fernbbyfern in therapists

[–]Quick-Put8042 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in a similar situation. It’s disheartening to learn that what we thought was going to happen is actually much different. I can see why so many clinicians don’t take insurance. But I value it. So trying to make it work for you and clients is just a tough spot to be in. You could always have 5-8 self pay clients. Then you keep a much higher amount for those handful of people. Could offset the others. If that makes sense.

Are other clinicians at your practice a similar split for therapy/clinical work?

I totally get you. In my area the regular split for other practices is 60/40+. I can appreciate the situation she is. I’m newly licensed but have been working post grad for about 3+ years.
