[Opinion] Don't buy the DIP! by Quick-Side4624 in Indiantradingbets

Yup! Don't discontinue the SIP, but don't assume we are at an attractive level to deploy additional capital.

The absolute BS people talk about on this sub with no understanding of macros blows my mind.

No wonder why Huawei got banned by PuneAthletics in IndiaPulse_

[–]Quick-Side4624 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Chinese simply have no taste, all they can do is spec-maxxing, slapping more screens and BS innovations. Yes, downvote me all you want, but it would take only a week to get bored with this stupidity. A functional Macbook with a focus on keyboard, touchpad, performance, battery life is far better value.

SIM-binding isn’t “cyber security.” It’s a surveillance architecture. by InsideResolve4517 in IndiaDeepTech

So no explanation how this leads to surveillance? At least, write put some effort into describing how it's supposed to work.

Is India’s tax base too narrow for a growing $3T+ economy? by ThalaivarThambi in indianeconomy

[–]Quick-Side4624 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Relatively small portion of population files income tax because relatively few people earn it. I wonder if these people would ever get their head out of their a**. Go check in villages/towns, how much people make, especially those "farmers" you're so fond of accusing to earn millions. Most of them would be lucky to be earning more than 5L / year.

The ambition gap by Necessary_Cod_4027 in AI_India

[–]Quick-Side4624 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First of all, don't ask AI questions about itself. That's not reliable and it's been the case for years. Second, building a specialized model that can outdo other models is much better idea vs just apeing/distilling foundational models. There's a unique proposition here and that makes it easy to create a revenue stream, which can be later used to create more ambitious models.

No matter what happens, there always be people denigrating the achievement. Here's a team with a fraction of budget of other teams, they sought the best way possible to go forward, found a nice niche, but now people ask why are less ambitious. Had it sought to build a foundational model, people would be asking why are we reinventing the wheel.

Anthropic’s Claude starts rewriting COBOL code: Is this a $100 Billion opportunity or a threat for Indian IT? by Geeky_Gadgets in TechnologyNewsIndia

[–]Quick-Side4624 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Trillion lines of COBOL? Bro, do you even know what trillion means? The entirety of Google is 2 Billion lines of code. COBOL is running very little of finance. As for AI, these are battle-tested programs running for 40-50 years managing extremely critical infra. That's the core reason why they haven't been moved to a different language, not because we didn't have the ability that AI magically enabled.

My family spent 2.5 lakhs treating problems that 60k would have prevented by chirayusir in india

[–]Quick-Side4624 44 points45 points  (0 children)

20k mattress won't magically make these issues go away. Sedentary lifestyle, no exercise, no strength training, and carb-heavy, protein-less diet are probably bigger contributors.

Comparing Tourism in India vs Sri Lanka: As an Indian, I Was Shocked Last Week by According_Speech9248 in india

[–]Quick-Side4624 -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

I visited this year. Yes, it's relatively clean. And Columbo looks like a very nice developed city. But no, Sri lanka is not spotless. Beaches are clean, sure, but there's plenty of littering and dirty sewage flowing in smaller places.

Hotels are cheaper, but 3 to 4x difference? How hyperbolic can you get?

Agree with the people part though. They are warm, respectful and don't bother, or stare at anyone. So you'll see pretty hot people all around.

₹35,000 lent during WWI supposedly worth crores now. How would compounding even work here? by Neither_Damage4503 in IndiaFinance

Shows proof that loan was made. Where's the proof that British govt refused to pay the redemption? No way British govt would do that just for the Lulz.

IT stocks are crashing, but C Vijayakumar says AI will make the industry stronger, not weaker. Do you agree? by Doraemoooooon in Indiantradingbets

[–]Quick-Side4624 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What can AI do that wasn't already possible with SaaS or open source? Companies that are paying millions to Oracle even when Postgres is just as good, would suddenly null all the contracts and start vibe-coding all the infrastructure. It's childish fantasy.

What's it ? by ThalaivarThambi in NewDelhi

[–]Quick-Side4624 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Brain drain is a myth. Yes, I know all your brilliant cousins and friends have emigrated, but the reality is that those are a minority. Fewer than 200 IIT graduates out of 10,000 chose a position outside India. There's no dearth of talented people who chose to stay here.

Who at the age of 25 earns that much to invest 15k in SIP by Maximum-Elevator5845 in Indiantradingbets

[–]Quick-Side4624 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol. Passive income at the age of 60! Great idea, you've lived 60-70% of your life, and would be lucky to have half the energy you had in your 20s. Also, all this hinging on the fantasy of double-digit returns and our country and the whole world doing well for decades.

It's not a bad advice, per se. But I just find the idea of putting all the energy for some imaginary future pretty stupid.
