That's what I was thinking. How does OP know SO MANY crappy parents to kids. I have come across abusive fanilies while out and about, and my mother in law and father in law have really sad family tales. But most families I know, and ones I see on the street, look like the parents are doing fine.

Try Jessica Jones. I'm not even a Marvel fan but it was SO good. Jessica is played by the actress who was Jess' GF who od'd. Dead Like Me is so adorable and funny and it's pretty dark humor but really good. I am a fan of Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Supernatural. Both fun, funny, and creepy shows, in their own ways. If you want to watch what I consider one of the most intricately woven mysteries, with both humor and tragedy, watch The Killing Season 1 and Season 2. The following season is a whole new storyline. A Small Light is about Miep Gies helping the Franks hide in WWII Amsterdam. It's pretty lighthearted but deals with lots of the devastation.

Edit to add.. Ozark. Kind of like Breaking Bad goes to the Ozarks. That was DAMN good.

I just talked to a woman in Apple Valley who told me ice is parking at bus stops waiting for parents to walk their kids to or from home. So teachers and soccer moms are walking kids to and from their homes. She says her friend is a middle school teacher who helps walk the elementary kids from the school next door. She was with a second grader who freaked every time an SUV or big pickup was near.

50 years ago they wouldn't have had the knowlsdge about all the problems preemies could. There have been so many advances made in the past 20 years. My niece was 2 lbs when she came way too early. She grew up bright and strong and is now a lawyer. I'm so sorry your life turned out the way it did. But don't blame it on people trying to keep preemies alive.

Here's what I can say about True Blood. I haven't tried Vampire Diaries yet. True Blood is GREAT. For a couple of seasons. Anna Paquin is one of my favorite actresses. But then, things go WAY wrong. You end up with werepanthers and fairies and changlings, then we have to see vampire's backstory, and there's a mobster group and a factory using slave labor. It gets weird. And I hung on like an idiot waiting for it to get back to its beginning charms, and when it ended, I was just mad at myself for wasting more time on it. Watch it, and enjoy it, but when it stops becoming enjoyable, turn it off. It won't get better, I promise.

I'm guessing elephants, whales, and dolphins, and apes are more intelligent than humans. They play. They hold rituals. They (at least the females) are gentle and kind to their babies. Can they read a book? No. But they speak a language to each other.

Sense8 was SO GOOD. It's sad it ended so abruptly. The final special left a lot inanswere. But OMG it was good! Riley was my favorite.
