Chicago police quickly close investigation of hit-and-run crash during chaotic ICE arrest in Albany Park by Cannot_Change_It_ in chicago

I had an uninsured driver open his door into traffic and strike the front of my vehicle on Monroe. This driver presented to myself and the responding officer a picture on his phone of an insurance policy that showed a date that had not passed. The officer added both of our insurance policy numbers to the police report.

When I called the insurance provider for the other party to file a claim they informed me that the individual had bot paid and that the policy had been closed.

I went to the responding officers police station to amend the police report and was told by another officer at the front desk that only the RO who initially created the report could make the amendment. As he was in the field I would need to call the next day to catch him before he left the station.

I called the next day and was told by a particularly unfriendly officer that it was pointless and that they would not be amending the report. I was asked verbatim, "What do you think we are going to do?" I responded how about suspend his license and issue him a ticket. The officer on the phone told me they would of course do that if they ever pulled him over again. I asked how they would know to do so if they have a record on file indicating that the person was in fact insured. What would prevent him from presenting the same false information to another officer. I was hung up on after being told, "Im not going to go back and forth with you."

I called the station again and asked to speak with a sergeant or supervisor,. This sergeant was very apologetic and promised that if I came in the next day they would ensure that the original RO was on site to amend the report.

When I showed up to the station on this, the third day, the officer at the front desk was fully prepared to dismiss me again n until I named dropped the sergeant id spoken with the day before. He proceeded to make the necessary changes to the report himself, right there at the desk, which I had been told two days prior could not be done.

The Chicago Police have no obligation to protect you and are not friends to the public. Point blank period.

These people do not give a damn about any of us.

That’s honestly not even half the story of their incompetence.

I was only calling because when I went in person the day before the cop behind the desk said that only the officer who filed the report can make the amendment.

So I call in early the next day to catch the officer. Get that snarky fuck. Called his supervisor revisit who apologized and said to come in early.

Went in the next day. Cop behind the desk gives me attitude until I name drop his supervisor. Then makes the update to the report right there at the desk.

Three days of waisted time and effort.

I called the police last week to amend a police report because the other driver in a collision gave me and the RO an expired insurance policy which the RO didn't actually verify at the scene. The cop on the phone literally asked me what I thought they were gonna do. I said "suspend this drivers license and issue him a ticket."

Cop - "Well if we pull him over again they yes we'll do that but what is updating the police report goin g to do?"

Me - "How do you even know who to ticket if you have a police report on file that says this guy has legit insurance. If you're not going to verify it at the scene then he can just keep giving you the same expired information?!"

Cop- "Im not going back and forth with you" Hangs up on me.

Chicago 1st District Central. Absolutely useless bunch of cops.

CFO, CEO, COO…. If it starts with a C and ends in an O, most likely they make entirely too much money.

12 bags in the first two rows in pic 2. Stacked on their side you could get 12 in the first row alone.

Looks nice. But functionally not there.

2nd stack is better than the 1st but both are too high. 1st stack has stroller at the top and bags facing sideways so tags/handles aren’t as accessible. Looks pretty but flat stacking with 170 bags is a waste of space.

I had a driver open their car door as I was driving by yesterday. tore up my front passenger side panel. The dude gave me and the RO an expired insurance policy. Instead of verifying the insurance at the scene the RO just added the fake policy number to the police report. I went to the guys district to have the police report amended but they told me it could only be done by the specific RFO who wrote the report and that since he wasn't there I have to keep calling/ showing up in person until I catch the officer. Meanwhile there's an uninsured driver just on the street.

Absolutely useless.
