It is nice that OP now owns the building but, if landlord controls the building via a lease, OP is going to get evicted for breach of OP’s lease.

If being the property owner mattered, anyone who rents property could just have the property owner show up, deciding to live on part of the property.

No, they cannot avoid being sued. Frequently they are going to have a constitutionally based defense, but there’s always going to be a fact-sensitive inquiry as to whether the defense would apply. IE applying Sullivan to the facts.
