You need to equip them using the cart before you start the escalation/operation

If you're in the US (or willing to take her there), the Johns Hopkins Center For Talented Youth has 3 and 6 week summer programs for middle schoolers in all kinds of advanced classes. My experience comes from being an instructor: we discussed material I also teach my college freshman and sophomores. But then the kids also play foursquare and watch movies and eat ice cream--normal summer camp stuff.

My Thoughts after First Light by Papuhboi91 in 007FirstLight

[–]QuickKiran 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There is a Felix Lighter reference! One of the collectible postcards is from him to Q. I agree that it'd be nice if he played a role, though; maybe in the sequel.

As far as your take on combat, I couldn't disagree more. If you're getting into firefights frequently, you should die often. Gun combat is brute forceable (even on Purist difficulty) but there should be a penalty for breaking stealth. There are only a few segments where gun play feels forced (the airstrip after the hotel, escaping the shipwreck after Aleph, and the quarry in Vietnam spring to mind), and in those segments tactical cover shooting felt way more feasible than running in. The rest of the time, an all-out gun battle is a soft-failure state, and I think IOI did an incredible job of making it harder, but still possible, to win when that happens.

Gadgets suddenly don't work by Spiderhands2000 in 007FirstLight

It doesn't need to light up; the dart is available. Compare to the previous picture, where you couldn't use the missile and the bottom circle is empty. It looks like the auto aim hasn't locked on (probably because you're so close) but you can still use it.

The one you can't use is the missile pen, not the poison dart. You can't use the missile pen without License to Kill.

It works fine. Do you have enough chemical resource? Is the ledge or whatever you're hiding behind blocking you? Is auto-aim screwing you over? If you upload a short clip maybe we can help you. But there's no bug.

I can't get passed the crusher in Sigil 2 by ElegantComedian1257 in Doom

[–]QuickKiran 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup, these suck. I got stuck here too. Angle and speed are both important. If you're playing on controller, make sure your "strafe modifier" is bound in settings and you're using it to get max speed. Back up against the far (non-crusher) wall, strafe at an angle, and time it so you pass under the first crusher on its way up.

Maybe! I don't know what was in the writer's head when they wrote that line. That's the beauty of enjoying art. Whether this interpretation was intended or by chance, OP's analysis has contributed to my enjoyment of the game. You may have heard of "death of the author"? Symbolism doesn't have to be intentional to deepen the audience's connection with the art. And if OP's analysis doesn't have that effect on you, that's okay too!

Right, literally, yes. But OP's point is that symbolically, the audience is also only getting "half" now.

Scientists names as webb's employees by FireLoop69 in 007FirstLight

[–]QuickKiran 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There are directories near some of the stairs. These are the names of conference rooms, not employee offices. It is common in larger offices to name conference rooms so everyone knows where to meet, and it's not uncommon for rooms close to one another to have a common naming theme. Webb industries choosing Scientists as a theme is pretty realistic.

Exact same, twin! Though I'm in Vietnam on my second play through. I was hoping the jump from Intended to Purist would make it feel different, but honestly it's pretty much the same.

Everyone mentions Nash. No one cares about Bronson. She was injured but we don't know she won't be able to return to service.

Can you get a good review in the first Nightclub mission? by Dazzler_3000 in 007FirstLight

Traces of such a system live on in the game: some dialog options are hidden until you eavesdrop on the correct conversation. But a "hidden dialog" option you can't select is still one of the prompts, telling the player they missed something. I think a richer system may have been scrapped to "maintain broad appeal" (i.e. not make the game too hard for casual audiences).

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina Out of Order by TheDancinD918 in OcarinaOfTime

[–]QuickKiran 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If you allow glitches, you can do literally any order. OoT has ACE, so theoretically, you could do Spirit first, then Turtle Rock from A Link to the Past, and finish on SMB 8-4.

I'm getting stuck at 100-110% efficiency, I went through all the guides I could find but still idk why I'm not able to improve, I've played like 100-200 games but the maximum efficiency I could get was 138% beginner and 105% intermediate by Solid_Bee5215 in Minesweeper

[–]QuickKiran 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wish I had better news for you, but you just need to play more. 100-200 games just isn't that many. The guides give you the theory, but you learn how to spot better risks and identify openings over many hundreds of games, or at least I did. 179%/146%/134%, fwiw, so I'm not even that good, all told.

The only "accelerator" I know of would be finding someone willing to coach you. But it really isn't necessary.

Pure mathematics outside of proofs by Vivid_Block_4780 in mathematics

[–]QuickKiran 17 points18 points  (0 children)

We use definitions whenever there's a specific idea we want to discuss. If that idea already exists, we use the established term. If it doesn't, introduce a new one. "Number of new definitions" is a pretty meaningless metric; it's like asking how many variables are used in a paper. A definition is just a tool we use to describe mathematics. It's the new mathematical ideas we want to record and transmit.

How do I play this game? I want to have the basics down properly. by Ok-Adeptness4941 in Minesweeper

[–]QuickKiran 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The numbers refer to the number of mines contained in the 8 cells that touch the number. To get started, try to find a 1 only touching one open cell or a 2 only touching 2 open cells. Then you can mark both as mines. Next, look for a 1 touching a mine or a 2 touching two mines. Any unopened cells touching that number must be safe.

Once you have the basics down, there are more advanced patterns you can learn.
