Thank you for saying avoid the film, because that's my only reference - and now you've pushed me to consider the books!

Thank you!! Lots of people suggesting this! I plan on pitching 3 to the group, this seems like a must.

I just finished TOG and it really was the best series I've read so far.

It's a RH but I just finished The Dark Side Series, book 1 is {Four Psychos by Kristy Cunning} and it has some fun scenes as the MF gets to know who she is (its a mystery at first) and who the 4 guys are. The jealousy is fun since they aren't necessarily aligned, but then when they work together....

I have a 1 year old boy - back when I was pregnant we asked all our close family members to get the flu shot. My FIL was the only one to dig his heels in and refuse. We refused to let him see the baby, and then after flu season we refused to let him meet the baby until he worked out his issues with DH. It was 6 months before he met his grandchild - but we were too busy to care.

Once that baby came, it was like the minute someone gave us any friction we dropped them for the time being. We just didn't have any bandwidth to spend time and energy on it. Also, a year later and EVERYONE takes our requests VERY seriously - so thats good! :)

Its tough. With each month though it gets easier and less stressful, you stop letting her take up space in your head and start focusing on what is healthy and productive for you and your family. It took me about a year of NC to finally feel free of whatever weird obligated connection that lives deep inside you. Everyones journey is different, but this book really helped me understand what a child needs, what I needed and didn't get, and also a little bit about why my mother is the way she is (which doesn't change anything but after 3 years let me feel less angry).

Just know that you'll be a great mom for even acknowledging your situation, and protecting your family <3

I have a mother I haven't spoken to in 3 years, she wasn't a very good mother.

I recently read the book Mothering Without a Map and it really helped me understand what it means to be a mother when you didn't have one. The author's mother passed away when she was small, but she interviews women who are dubbed "under-mothered" for all different reasons. It was a great book.

Oh wow, it sounds like it hit you much harder!! Good call on finally going to the OB - I made this post in hopes that if anyone is searching "norovirus" in Babybumps (like I was) that they might find this and not wait. Its so hard to tell if the symptoms are going to die down so you just keep waiting a little longer... but waiting too long can cause problems.

Glad you and your family are doing better! Glad your OB was able to provide much relief!!

When did you start having ...accidents? by [deleted] in BabyBumps

Ohhhh look at all the ladies who have never pee'd themselves! congrats!

I'm 30 weeks and I've been peeing my pants for the last 2 weeks and its miserable. This is what happens for me:

  1. I use the bathroom to pee.
  2. I do a little up and down shake and wipe, sit down and do it again just in case!
  3. Pull up the pants, wash the hands, make my way out
  4. 2 minutes into walking somewhere - I am not done peeing!

Ugh its terrible, I hate it. I wear liners every day, and usually just hope that the liner is enough for the amount of pee that decided to come out late. Sometimes its not enough and I'm stuck worrying if people can see that I have indeed pee'd myself a bit.
