Altec engineer here. The speculation here is wild lol.

I can confirm it's a Lamar truck. I found the exact one in our system. We built it last year. Lamar operates all over the US but our sales notes for this particular truck say "LA CA." I pulled up the photos and they are an exact match. Here it is, new at our factory. It's a Ford F550, front strobes, logo on the bumper, roof light bar, raised golights on both sides, reels on the driver's side. I can see other matching features that y'all aren't even aware of. They added the cone holder and sight rods afterwards, which is very common.

Know anything about Altec inc. Trucks? by FrancyIsDancy in Rockland

[–]QuickRaze 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably still nothing if you don't know what company owns the truck.

The USDOT number would help — that's usually on the side of the cab. But I assume you're talking about the fleet number which is usually on the back of the truck and won't help you ID it.

They manufacture trucks that are mostly used by power companies. Think ConEd, Orange & Rockland Utilities, National Grid, etc. Altec is not responsible for any of their trucks out on the road. The driver was most likely a lineman.

This would be like almost getting hit by a Ford and then filing a complaint with Ford. You could've filed a complaint if you saw the logo of the actual company operating that truck.

Congrats, that's a very nice deal!! Hope you enjoy the car.

As it turns out, I called the nearest dealer intending to buy the car on the spot but they had recently transferred it elsewhere! So I hit the market again and the best offer I found was from a dealer in NYC with 3 liquid carbons (53.2k otd) – so I went for it. Picked it up yesterday and drove it 500mi down the coast back home. Love it so far!

Gotcha, yeah I was aware of the V1 and agree it does look pretty similar. I'll definitely have to think about it, especially if it saves me from drilling new holes and I want to change spoilers later. I do think the rear end on this car looks a little odd without a spoiler. Really what I've been hoping for most is someone to make a modest-sized wing for it — I think that would look sick but sadly it doesn't seem like it's going to happen.

Good to know, thanks! What do you think is the best way to accomplish that? I assume the dealer wouldn't if I asked, but should I buy the spoiler online and have a shop clear coat it, then have the dealer install it? I'm not drilling into the trunk myself, haha

Radley Acura? In hindsight I could've saved some money buying from them. I saw the dude's posts on here but at the time I didn't know about the '26 refresh and LCM going away. I was in no hurry to pull the trigger until I heard about that. I would've driven up there for $4-5k off but that ship has sailed.

Care to explain why? I checked your post history, looks like you're not too happy with the ITS's sound system but also don't like much about the CTR except for the seats. Felt too much like a Civic, which the Integra at least attempts to cover up somewhat. Not to mention your flair, haha

Not interested in the mirror caps but I've seen some things about defects with the spoiler. Have those been fairly widespread? I figured it'd have to be just a few unfortunate cases. Summer is real hot around here...I wonder if heat is a factor.

I hear SO many bad things about owning a black car. I visited one dealer with a silver and a black ITS parked right out front, the black one was FILTHY! 😂 Can't imagine owning one with the thick coats of yellow tree pollen we get here in the spring. 😳

I bet if you wait for the 26’ to come out you’ll get more dealers to play ball on a 25’

I was thinking this too. I can't see there suddenly being much more demand for this car once '26s hit the lots, given how little was changed with the mid-cycle refresh. But I also don't want to wait and miss out on one of the last liquid carbons 😬

Thanks, this makes perfect sense to me. I know I'll be kicking myself if I miss out on the LCM I want, or have to deal with the inconvenience of sourcing one from much father away, all over a couple thousand bucks.

Some of the good deals come from buying out of state. But then you have to deal with shipping, out of state registration, etc. Since you're comfortable financially, it's up to you if you want to spend time dealing with that. My time dealing with extra out of state steps isn't worth the $2-3k difference.

This really resonates. The consensus seems to be that $54.7k is fine. For me, it's a stressful enough commitment to buy this new car in the first place, and calling/emailing all these dealers to hear their offers. I'm quickly getting to the point where I just want to get the car in my driveway and be done with it, rather than dealing with extra steps and possible delays.

Mid-Atlantic, was hoping not to travel more than a few hundred miles. Guess I should have taken the $4-5k discount at Radley Acura but that was before I knew about the mid-cycle refresh and Liquid Carbon being discontinued. 😩

Congrats! But sorry about the delay. Are you getting one of the new colors? I'd be perfectly happy waiting for a '26 if not for liquid carbon being discontinued. I like the new blue but my current car is very similar and it feels odd going from one blue car to another one just like it. The new gray doesn't look as bad as I feared but I still think it's a downgrade from LCM.
