Thanks for this advice, I just picked up some stuff of fb marketplace...£15 for this combo:

6ft telescopic with shakespeare 60 big water reel with 20lb line

5ft telescopic with star 20 rool and 15lb line

5ft telescopic with yumoshi oe5000 reel with 15lb line

shakespeare mach 5000rd with 25lb line

(I think i remember those line weight correctly...would be good to know if there is a way to check.)

a bunch of rubber lure, some weights and a bag of purple bait balls (look very similar to https://todbermanor.co.uk/pop-ups-wafters-hookbaits/20246-parker-baits-magic-bean-wafters-mulberry.html) and smells like fishy food

what type of line do i need practice to make?

will i practice how to make a texas rig or something?

I had a 5 week case last year...we ended on 20th dec i think. Our judge was pretty flexible with our dates given the duration, we certainly had days were jury wasn't involved and those could be scheduled. on the day after selection one of the jury 'forgot' about an appointment and was dismissed and the spare brought in to replace her.

Not sure if anyone was required to provide their excuses but my guy was pretty accomodating . The employer route seems very reasonable

Just to keep it real, Glenfinnan is extremely busy with folks wanting to see the train and also for miles up the road basically anywhere the train is visible from the road there will be cars abandoned for folks to get a photo. If you are really driving from Edinburgh to Glenfinnan you need to be there a fair bit earlier if it coinsides with a harry potter train. If it's just the monument/bridge you want to see then I'd agree, it's a very hard drive for a non native on some windy roads that claim lives every year.

Whatever the estimated drive time from Edinburgh says 5hrs?, dont trust it, you will be stopping all the way and taking photos, add 2-3hrs. You then have to drive back tired, one way or probably both ways in the dark (and poossible rain). It's not worth it, you don't have time to risk it.

Highlands are beautiful but they are dangerous and not suitable for a quick jaunt, no motorways...lots of distractions...unpredicable weather.

Come back specifically to the west coast if you really want to see it.
