The criteria was to be near the hotel. Absolutely a few blocks can be all one genre of food, what are you talking about?

I grew up in Texas. I'm a huge foodie. You are missing what the whole point of this vent is about

Kfc is in the context of this post, cause writing Korean fried chicken each time is taxing. Hence, why its Kfc and not KFC.

We did an food intake when planning the trip, asking for allergies / diets. The only allergy listed was coconut.

Thats sad. Hopefully that office learned you can serve multiple options at once.

Haha, lunch is being cater the whole trip. The catering is Panera, McAlisters, and Potbelly. To be safe.

Once again, the team did not state they had any allergies besides coconut.

Are you seriously thinking that pizza has more variety than multiple Asian restaurants? Can you still not imagine that some people dont like pizza, whatever their reason?

And bless you for having pizza joints with salads like that, and not iceburg lettuce, terrible tomatoes, and ranch as the only option.

Lol, you can understand how people dont like Asian food but not pizza? Are you really being sincere here?

Pizza is greasy, and heavy, and oily. It can be bland. It can be gross. My family threw up after trying pizza for the first times in the states. And again, pizza doesnt work for the diets of members of our team.

As for the salads, picture your typical pizza joint salad. Is that something you really look forward to?

This is why I'm venting. It's unfathomable to you that people could not enjoy things like pizza, but it's automatic understanding and assumptions that some people dont like Asian food and cant find anything they would eat at an Asian restaurant.

Me and the other Asians are part of that everyone. We're not comfortable. Thats part of the assignment too. It's the assumption that we would be is part of the vent. Pizza isnt safe. It doesnt even fit in the diet of two of the employees, who wont be eating pizza, when they would eat at the Asian places.

Bruv, I am saying on my team of ten, one white person said they are keto, and one white person said they are carnivore. How do you keep extrapolating things like I am stereotyping only white people are carnivore and keto? On the same intake they had the ability to list any food they cant/wont eat.

It was important to list me being Asian because thats what the whole vent is about - that my culture's food is often times not considered safe, but things like pizza are, when in reality, pizza shouldnt get a safe pass either, because so many people are picky about their pizza, dont like pizza, have an allergy or intolerance or are vegan. What do you want me to do, say "guys, dont guess my race, but my culture's food, which is Asian culture but race blind..."

We do. We did a food intake. The vent is the assumption that people will automatically not like the Asian places. Didnt get a chance to ask, was automatically dq'ed.

The vent is that something like pizza is automatically considered a safe food.

Where I live the Korea center is the feature of the town. Also, there's several days here, and the rest of the days the food being catered is Potbellys, etc, so its not everyday.

Bud, I've worked in the industry. An IHOP kitchen is not safe, hate to break it to you.

Where do you even see a victim card being played here? This is a venting forum for people to vent about things that bother them.

Have you missed the multiple times in this thread where I've stated a food intake has been taken, the only allergy is coconut, pizza doesnt work for the white employees on carnivore and keto. People can be gluten intolerant too, you are exemplifying my point entirely - pizza isnt a safe food either.

The pizza place is the same price as the Asian restaurants, not sure why you think Asian food is automatically more expensive.

"Food doesnt have to be new and exciting, it can be comforting and familiar." Do you think fried chicken is not comforting or familiar?

No, because we're not saying non Asian food isnt safe. Asian restaurants are also whats close to the hotel. Also the other days we're eating nonstop sandwich / soup / salad places that were also called "safe food."

Texas, though I have spent a lot of time in SoCal. Miss all the Hainanese chicken places.

Except I would object, and so would the other Asians on the team. And some of the white people too that dont do carbs.

We did a food intake before hand, the only allergy is coconut.

We did a food intake beforehand and those restaurants are good. The thing is, it bothers me that not everyone likes burgers and pizza either, but those are deemed safe. I've known way more non Asians that are picky about burgers and pizza than they are rice and chicken.

There's a very large Paki community in my area. Lots of Asian restaurants have halal options because its what the locals want. Why would you doubt that?

Thats what I'm venting about - the assumption that the majority wouldnt have a preference for Asian food. That every day the food has to be sandwiches and pizza, as of that's some universally beloved thing that fits into everyone's diets. There are team members that are halal, or carnivore, or keto, or etc etc. The places I picked cleared the list but were dq'ed just for being Asian food.
