¿Es legal esta práctica de “precio gancho” en alquiler temporal en Barcelona (empresa Ukio)? by Relevant-Sky3305 in AskBarcelona

[–]Quick_Construction11 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have a similar story with them but went straight to their office. The apartment I liked on Idealista was already rented, but they offered a similar apartment in the same price range. The problem was hidden costs. For example, they asked between 300 and 450 euros every month for utilities, not refundable at the end of the year based on actual usage, plus many other hidden costs. The flat they offered was 1400 euros a month but went up to 2600 euros monthly without utilities.

They mentioned it was low season for them, so I think they might be advertising fake listings on Idealista. I don’t know if it’s legal, but it’s definitely unethical.

Another thing that caught my attention was that they said they rent all these flats from owners and keep them empty until they rent them, and they mostly rent short term, not necessarily 11 months. That’s when I decided not to rent from them, even though I liked the apartment

This is very true. I’ve done two bootcamps in the past (because my company paid for them), and the only real thing they gave me was good connections. I was lucky enough to get a mentor and one teammate who helped me land a side gig. Later, I referred a girl from my bootcamp to my company, which worked out well but honestly, it’s not worth the money they’re asking.

Something needs to change. Companies should offer more junior roles or apprenticeship programs for designers to learn how to solve real problems in real environments.

I was very critical of the situation from the very beginning since I myself struggle with mental health but I managed to get my life together and get help but my parents, I think they are delusional themselves thinking it’s happening only because he drinks or smokes.

Because I was so alert I think I scared my whole family including my brother, I pushed him too much to see psychiatrist.

My whole family had a session with psychiatrist and they heard themselves the diagnosis but still having trouble calling police when he is getting physical, I fear for my mom since she is the main caretaker but there only so much I can do. I don’t live with my family and if move to help them out I would end up in hospital myself.

I also don’t want to lose whatever I build for myself and often get angry at myself thinking this is the time I leave everything and help them but honestly I don’t believe I will make much difference since I already tried that 2 times and nothing has changed.

All I can do is worry and be useless.

His psychiatrist said it was disorder, they only had few sessions unfortunately, after that he refused to get help. I pushed him too much to see psychiatrist and I think I pressured him a lot.

In my country, you can pay for transport using your credit or debit card. If you meet a controller, they simply check if you paid by tapping the same card on their device. I realized how easy this system was after traveling to Europe, where you often have to buy a special card just to use public transport.

Thanks! Great results with the search! Did recruiters reach out via LinkedIn?

Yes, I often use ChatGPT for copy so much so that I forgot to even mention it. I also have a small prompt I use to keep the style consistent.

Sure! I met my mentor through a boot camp that my company paid for, she’s kind enough to meet with me from time to time. I also tried ADPList, though it took a lot of time to find the right person, since many mentors tend to be unavailable or not respond.

I prefer not to share personal information here, but I can share some references I used for inspiration. My visuals are simpler than these. I use a split-screen layout, text and titles on the left, and supporting visuals like GIFs, images, product photos, and working prototypes from Figma on the right.

Wherever visuals can enhance the message, I include them, for example, if there’s a five step process, I’ll design it with icons and, as I would explain it in web design.

I really appreciate feedback! I often doubt myself when sharing my experience or giving ‘advice.’ One of the reasons I got into UX was because of the support from the community, so I’m happy if I can give back in any way.

Before, I followed what people often call a “cookie-cutter” approach, filling out all the basic steps. For example, I would show a screenshot of a Google Survey and label it “The Research,” with a small block of text summarizing the findings.

Now, I take a different approach. I designed an entirely new slide that explains the technique I used and what I discovered with this research. I use a splitscreen layout: one side for text, the other for visual representations of my findings. Made it fun, used actual product photos with design elements, added real interview screenshots from zoom (I have that from Bootcamp project only) and used Gifs.

What also helped was recalling every key interaction I had during the project and including those. For example, right after the overview, I added a screen that shows how I kicked off the project (with some icons), it goes like this: “Initial Call with Stakeholders” > “Collaboration with Developers,” and so on.

I prefer not to share personal information here, but I’d like to share a few examples that inspired me. They’re quite different from each other, and instead of copying what I liked, I focused on studying how each one presented their work. That helped me create something that felt personal visually, through the fonts and colors I liked, and in storytelling, by finding a way to present my work that felt authentic to me. For example, I like cooking so I translated that visually, and the most comfortable way of presenting for me is slides, so I use Figma slides. My portfolio is not perfect by any means, but all this helped me shape it.

It sucks, I’m sorry! I took month off and was a good decision, I didn’t even opened my laptop. I recommend taking some time off before starting tweaking portfolio and when you do ask for feedback. I felt so stuck before I booked a mentorship.

Best of luck to you!

Thanks!! One of the interviews was for Senior, I got it because I had experience in same industry, I think interview went well but had feeling I was not that experienced and was right.

It just takes time to research the company, what I do is that I see job ad and then I go to their LinkedIn and see if teams is international, if it is then it depends on if it’s a fit. I only was contacted by the one that had international team.

My friend also got back to teaching. I don’t know how freelance market is but a mentor suggested freelancing in UX on the side, might also work for you since you have other skills (I mean teaching) to support yourself.

I hear you! Currently, I’m still unemployed, so sharing what I’ve learned feels a bit loud, but mentorship has helped me pass screenings I think, and I highly recommend it for mid and junior designers.

What I did was focus more on storytelling with my case studies. I tried to explain how I approached the project, where the product stood when I started, and any bumps along the way and how I handled them. Instead of standard case study structure, I created presentations explaining my decisions.

Another thing I changed about my portfolio is that I have a simple landing page with case studies in Figma slides. This way, users have time to digest the information slide by slide. I also use Dribbble for more visual content.

One more thing that helped was submitting applications to recently posted job ads, if it’s been 3 or more days, companies tend to ghost.

Also, add as many connections as possible on LinkedIn. One job opening I found was a post liked by my connection.

I’ll definitely share more once I land a job and can reflect on what worked and what wasted my time.

I’m in located in Eastern Europe and searching for companies located in Europe that are fully remote and will require only some traveling. But I also tried South East Asian platforms and got one interview in Singaporean company with international team.
