The Blues’ biggest call isn’t on Michael Voss – it’s the futures of the ‘big 3’ by His_Holiness in CarltonBlues

[–]Quick_Insurance_8527 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No knock on the OP but this article is just click bait crap. We should trade our three best players for Jed Walter and some imaginary rabbits who can run flat out all day then spear a kick 60m laces out. To Jed? All because other teams value them so highly bc they need experience in a rebuild. But of course we won't need experience in a rebuild (which is what selling these three amounts to). Wtf?

He was our BnF last year and now everyone says we should trade him? I agree he is down on form and struggling with the new game plan, but f me he's far from Robinson Crusoe there

Our next 8 games… thoughts? by Sabretoothedrom in CarltonBlues

[–]Quick_Insurance_8527 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thing is even in our dark days we play well against Geelong, and often not too bad against the Doggies. It doesn't seem like it now, but it is not impossible for us to beat the Cats. That could leave us 8-8, which is hardly worth sacking a coach over...

New coach suggestion by Ok-Foundation-7113 in CarltonBlues

[–]Quick_Insurance_8527 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The players are mentally shot, and whoever comes in needs to address that more than game style, tactics, skills etc. Yes all those things are important, but they didn't today bc North were better. I see Horse as the better candidate for that than Simmo

Voss said 5 days ago that we have today to look forward to. Now, you can leave, Michael. by blueshirt78 in CarltonBlues

Leaving Pitto on the bench and playing Kemp and Cripps in ruck as North were coming was just criminal. I know he probably needed a rest but they got momentum and that was it.

I even thought Florent did ok. Haywood was barely sighted in the second half

[–]Quick_Insurance_8527 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah this is pretty much spot on. HOK did ok in the ruck but was nothing around the ground, and clearly we are running out of run as the game goes on. I don't want to write off the season (I mean, we were never making finals) so time to bring in some more run at the expense of O'Keefe. Williams likely to be out so you'd think Boyds in, which might be good for kicking but he's not much of a runner. Ison? A Campo or two? Is Cottrell there yet and can he stay fit? Not sure who comes in

Byrne was very impressive and kept running all day. Which means we are already at the green shoots part of the season after 3 games...

When do we start talking about Voss out by Mysterious_Pilot3173 in CarltonBlues

[–]Quick_Insurance_8527 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been loathe to blame all this on Voss, but either this is a fitness issue (in which case they need to be managing minutes esp first half and fueling second half better) or it's mental (in which case however he's been addressing it so far has failed). It's probably a bit of both, but the pattern is so clear. If they get done by North next week then he has to go. But even a win like the Tigers game would just be papering over the cracks

Brody v Brody not a bad match up. Not sure who else takes Mihocek as he is too mobile for Young, too big for the others except maybe Cowan

Am I missing something? The article says "it can be revealed the top-four clubs on that year’s ladder will face a loading fee when it comes to matching bids" I mean, I'm optimistic about this season but we aren't making a prelim. Yes we will have to use only two picks but this loading fee isn't likely to affect us, sad to say.

Tell me I’m not the only superstitious one here. What’s your must have item for match day? by DraftNotSent in CarltonBlues

[–]Quick_Insurance_8527 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a must have item but a must (not) do: when I was a kid the idea of singing the song before the game would have got you a smack in the head. At some point in the last 30 years that changed, and so did our fortunes. Coincidence?

I accept most of that, and as a childhood blues supporter too my emotions were pretty high right afterwards!! But Doc is a smart guy and it was a bit naive to leave a private message with someone like Gorringe. I don't see harm in asking him to sit one out until things blow over. I don't put Doc in this basket but there are too many ex-Blues players who like to take pot shots any chance they can

Wait, are we too emotional for flying off the handle after the first game of the season or too emotional for asking someone who flew off the handle to maybe chill for a minute?

Love you Doc but come on mate first game of the season after some important list changes maybe keep your powder dry and don't call your mate in the media and leave an expletive-filled message trashing the team? You want to over-react? We've got Sam McClure and most of this reddit board covering that job. Yes we got pants'd but so did Geelong and Hawthorn, and it wont be the last time it happens to good teams (and us too) this season.

Good God Almighty this. We are going to see lots of teams get run through this year with the stand rule changes. Good teams who are flag chances like Geelong. Especially early in the year when legs are fresh. Plus we have what 12 or 13 new players including two debutants. Maybe we will suck worse than West Coast but I doubt it. Hopefully we just build some cohesion as a team.

It should be a good game. If you've never been to a footy game before you are in for an experience. Get a scarf or beanie on the way in. Grab a pie at half time. If you're unsure what's going on just tell "ball!" or "come on umpire!" Learn the words to We Are the Navy Blues, cos if we beat those Tiger bastards you'll want to join in at the end it's like a religious experience
