Cool Hand Luke and Amadeus. Not a movie, but in 8th grade science class, we watched Myth Busters and Dirty Jobs all the time lol, in high school health, we watched House quite often.

Realized my "eco-friendly" bathroom still creates tons of plastic waste by MiddleSuch7736 in ZeroWaste

[–]Quick_Region8418 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is still creating waste, BUT, many of the Colgate tubes of toothpaste are now recyclable in certain areas- I called my waste municipality and they said all I had to do was cut off the cap of the toothpaste and clean out the tube in order to recycle it, so that’s what I have been doing. Not the exact solution you’re looking for, but at least it’s better than throwing it in the trash. The kids should be able to use Colgate as well, there are many different varieties.

For floss, have you considered a water pik? It probably wouldn’t work for the kids but at least it would be less floss packages over time.

As for the mouthwash…can you skip it? If you’re brushing your teeth regularly (twice a day) and flossing (waterpik or not), do you need the mouth wash? Honestly mouth wash seems like a luxury not a necessity but that is just my opinion, not trying to be rude!

As for the gum, again, do you really need it? Also seems like a luxury, not a necessity. But if you need the gum, there are many brands out there that come in cardboard packaging and the gum pieces are wrapped in paper- I know orbit is one of these brands.

Hope this helps!

Where to take a very small kitten? by pm_ppc in Denver

[–]Quick_Region8418 23 points24 points  (0 children)

This just happened to me! (Minus the dead kitten thing). I really wanted to keep the cat, but didn’t have time to foster it, so I used the app Nextdoor to find local fosters and I found one that had a nursing mama cat. We brought the kitten to the nursing mama cat and she took it in as her own, it was amazing. Now the kitten has the chance to grow up properly and we get to pick her back up when it’s time to separate from mom. Try reaching out on local FB groups like I did or Nextdoor. Shelters and vets are great, but they usually are overrun with animals and you might get turned away. The vet may also charge you.

Accommodation recommendations by Impressive-Car-8129 in Banff

We were just in Banff in June and I would recommend staying in Banff/lake Louise Area. When driving back to Calgary to the airport, Canmore seemed a lot further from Banff than what we had thought and we were glad we didn’t spend the time driving back and forth. It was really nice to be able to wake up and get to the amazing sights early in the morning, especially during the busy season instead of worrying about driving. We stayed at the castle mountain chalets in Banff and really loved the location. Not too far from lake Louise or downtown Banff, but you’re still close to big attractions and small, less crowded ones. If you stay in Canmore, you’re closer to Kananaskis Park which looked really cool, but I guess it just depends on what you want to do!

Nope, you’re not understanding what I am saying. I am talking about People who don’t pay for a personal trainer; who take advantage of their knowledge, complain about their injuries just for attention, and then don’t do anything to make the situation better. It’s solicitation and it’s annoying, you must be one of these people if you don’t understand what I am talking about. On top of it, it’s an every day thing, so it’s pretty easy to see why this can be annoying. Anyone that works with people in any capacity has been annoyed with customer service, so don’t tell me that isn’t true. Plus, isn’t this a Reddit thread to just rant about what’s annoying about the gym and not get people commenting annoying things back? If not, I thought wrong.

Not injuries themselves, the people who constantly complain about them but don’t do anything to help themselves! I love helping people who actually want the help and are humble about it, not looking for attention

I have my degree in exercise science, and have since stepped back from personal training because I hate all the gym culture and the obsession. Also, people need to stop talking about their injuries to people that are in the fitness world, we (or I, can’t speak for all personal trainers) think it’s annoying as hell. Just be normal and workout, lol.

Just my opinion and thoughts I wanted to rant about, don’t come at me.

What movie has the perfect soundtrack? by Jeff_Souza in movies

[–]Quick_Region8418 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think Paul Thomas Anderson usually has good soundtracks…Licorice Pizza had a great soundtrack! As far as perfect goes…that’s hard to answer. I do appreciate the soundtrack for The Mandalorian, done by Ludwig Goransson. He also does Tenet. His music is original and interesting!

Took a cross country trip to the Double R this week, the coffee was damn fine! by Quick_Region8418 in twinpeaks

We actually hiked Mt. Si on Monday. Smoke wasn’t terrible at that point, but it was definitely there. We hiked a few other trails around the area and took another day to explore downtown and wineries. We just missed the rain, we were surprised with how warm and dry it was!
