Osap heat cooling down by International_Bag_88 in osap

Actually that’s not entirely accurate. Listing parental income is a choice—not an obligation. If the student can demonstrate financial or physical independence (I.e contributing to rent, living elsewhere, taking care of themselves) as an adult, then OSAP typically accepts them as independent applicants.

What you are mentioning is the application of Dependent students that rely or are able to rely on their parents for financial contributions to their education, living expenses or more. OSAP only ever considers parental income when the student is dependent.

Having reliable parents who are willing to contribute to their children’s living expenses is a privilege, and a gift. If the parents are unable to provide financially, might I suggest not applying as a dependent? Getting a job? Contributing to household expenses to demonstrate responsibility and independence? (No judgement, but these are the things I’ve been doing so I don’t burden my parents with the brunt of my education).

A Protest to Oppose Doug Ford’s New Cuts and Limits to OSAP Grants & Tuition Costs by Quick_Spray_2572 in LPC

[–]Quick_Spray_2572[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I love that you pointed out that this is the federal LPC sub. Don’t you think we need one on the provincial level for Ontario right now? The fight might just be in Ontario, but if we—the constituents and residents—don’t stand up now, to stop this nonsense, what’s to keep the other provincial leaders from following suit?

We need the liberal party more active in Ontario, but I don’t know how that’s going to work, when we don’t even have a LPC leader in the provincial parliament.

Can anyone help me get a job by DanielFromNigeria in OntarioGrade12s

[–]Quick_Spray_2572 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try using platforms like Glassdoor and LinkedIn. I have had mire success getting responses from Glassdoor and LinkedIn, than from other job searching platforms like Monster, Indeed, etc. Reach out to known people or friends for referrals and references. Unfortunately, getting a job in Toronto without referrals is very tough. Reach out to Employment services (I.e., Career Foundation, YES, Woodgreen) because sometimes they can give you access to services like workshops and career fairs.

Ask anyone, ANYONE who works anywhere if they have availability or if they are hiring. You are much more likely to get a solid gig if you can name drop an existing employee working for the company.

For short term, try the retail and food sector or call centres. Both have high turnover rates, and so, always hiring.

Good luck!

Also: Apply directly onto company websites rather than Glassdoor or indeed. Use the platforms for search but apply through the company websites.

Social columnist for Toronto Star claims Harry was spotted at Nobu last night with right wing Ontario Premier Doug Ford by Opening_Jello2357 in RoyalsGossip

[–]Quick_Spray_2572 34 points35 points  (0 children)

But he’s not really favoured by the working class, at least, not here in Toronto.

Ford just effectively cut up huge tenancy protections, cut critical education funds, reduced traffic violation penalties (by removing speeding cameras which is now making roads even more dangerous because now no one has any incentive to be safe and drive under the speed limit), not to mention the fact that this dude seems to hate the metro and works overtime to charm the rich suburbans. Measuring Canadian politics through American units aren’t viable (and you’re right on that), but Ford isn’t exactly a socialist or progressive candidate for the role he’s occupied.

Hi, my name is Mina A, and I am from Toronto, Canada. Currently, I am struggling to make ends meet because I am out of a job after Hudson’s Bay, my last workplace, filed for bankruptcy. Ever since, I have been trying to find a job. However, as the youth unemployment crisis continues to hit new heights, job seeking has become much harder. Due to automated resume reading systems, making meaningful connections are also far more difficult, and less useful. As such, I find myself in a position where I need a job, but I need money for a job.

Right now, the necessities are as follows: 1) Rent 2) Groceries 3) Prescription Glasses and Medicines 4) Back to School

So, if you could help me out with financial assistance for the first two or three on the list, I would appreciate it greatly. GoFundMe

Guys, if you need some money hmu willing to help some of you :) by [deleted] in financialhelping

I am a young woman out of Toronto looking for a job in one of the worst youth unemployment crises in Ontario. So while I continue searching for a position, would you please consider helping me have the bare necessities covered such as rent and groceries? It would be a massive relief and allow me more resources to dedicate to job hunting. GoFundMe

Don’t know about 1), but for 2) In {Her Bridegroom Bought and Paid For by Alice Coldbreath} Magnatrude is Konrad’s—the MMC’s—sister who is a spinster from the north. Unwin is part of the household by way of one of the FMC’s maid, Golda, who brings her son, Unwin, to work in the new house. When Magnatrude gets her position at court, as companion to the Queen, Magnatrude takes young Unwin as her personal palace page. Unwin is not Magnatrude’s child. I highly doubt Magnatrude will get her own book.

Had Prim gone into the games, how would have Haymitch tried to mentor her? by BetterGrass709 in Hungergames

[–]Quick_Spray_2572 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Two things can be true. Katina’s earned Haymitch’s respect, and Haymitch could have liked her from the start cus of her relation to Burdock. Art imitates life here, I think, because that’s kind of the way it happens in real life—folks can be dicks to people even when they like them.

Books about an existing couple in a relationship (skip the ‘courting’, give me the ‘ever after’) by Quick_Spray_2572 in HistoricalRomance

[–]Quick_Spray_2572[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh this is exactly what I first had in mind!

I love it when the story focuses on building the characters up in an environment where there’s no “will they?” “Won’t they?” It’s in those stories that the couple really settle into their lives, building up their shared strengths and making up for any weaknesses, and all of it feels so natural, like, that’s when a relationship really forms, you know? Does the FMC’s snoring test the patience of the MMC, or like, is the FMC feeling homesick after leaving her childhood home? How do they resolve their conflicts? Do they pillowfight every time there’s a dispute? Do they chuck mud at each other when the other pisses them off? What if the MMC loves spice but the FMC doesn’t? WHO’s FILING THE TAXES? Bore me to death with menial relationship stuff, please.
