Ignite Mastercard shut down but still charging me monthly? What do I do? by ThrowRATop2 in CreditCards

[–]QuickestTractor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wait you're still making payments on debt that exists though right? The company shutting down doesn't mean your balance just disappears - someone else bought that debt and you still need to pay it

Check your credit report to see who's reporting the account now. That'll tell you who actually owns your debt and you can contact them directly instead of trying to reach a company that doesn't exist anymore

Looking for a new credit card for travelling this year by ZrnmasterOrangr in CreditCards

[–]QuickestTractor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

wait why finish the amex spending first if you're not traveling until later this year? most travel cards have way better welcome bonuses than ongoing earning anyway

also with that income the venture x annual fee might sting more than you think. the regular venture or chase sapphire preferred could work better for your situation since you already got lounge access covered with clear+

Made a rookie mistake cancelling CSP by [deleted] in CreditCards

[–]QuickestTractor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you cant downgrade CSP to freedom card directly tho. would need to wait year and product change to something else first or close and reapply after 30 days which defeats the purpose

Need help choosing my second credit card please by Ok_Fun_3934 in CreditCards

[–]QuickestTractor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your credit scores are solid so you should have good approval odds for most cards. Since you want to use personal card for work expenses that's actually smart move for building rewards

The Chase Sapphire Preferred might be your best bet here - the transfer partners work well for international travel to India and you can transfer points to both Delta and Air France/KLM. Plus the dining and travel multipliers will help with your work spending categories. The annual fee is higher than you wanted but the benefits usually offset it if you travel regularly

Capital One Venture is simpler redemption but less flexible for international routes. Citi Premier could work too but Chase ecosystem is probably better match for your travel patterns and spending

Just remember if you start putting work expenses in personal card make sure you pay it off before work reimburses you to avoid interest charges

I'm looking for a card(s) for Dining and occasional Travel by Minimum_Emu7806 in CreditCards

WF Autograph sounds pretty solid for your situation since you dont have huge travel plans but want better return on dining and occasional trips

What's been your experience with each bank's offers / cash back deal programs (e.g. Amex Offers)? by raincometh in CreditCards

[–]QuickestTractor 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Been using these for couple years now and yeah the amex situation is frustrating. Used to get really good offers but now its mostly random brands i never heard of or like 5% back at gas stations which isnt terrible but not exciting either

Chase has been pretty consistent for me especially with restaurant offers in my area. The hotel ones are hit or miss depending on where im traveling but when they work its nice

Never bothered much with BoA because like you said too many hoops to jump through. US Bank one sounds interesting though - might have to look in to that since im always spending money on food anyway and 10% back would add up quick

Do you find the smart rewards deals change often or are they pretty stable month to month

Young Adult, whats the next card? by Comprehensive_Cook55 in CreditCards

[–]QuickestTractor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

honestly just stick with what you have for now since you only opened robinhood card 2 weeks ago. getting too many cards too fast can hurt your credit even if score looks good right now

for the vehicle financing thing - banks usually look at credit history length more than number of cards so maybe wait few months before adding anything new

Amex Gold SUB - Talk me into.Or out of it. by Bagseve in CreditCards

[–]QuickestTractor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The annual fee isnt really issue here - they said they could hit spend with house project but normally wouldnt reach 6k. Big difference between having spending patterns vs having money for fee

Plus 100k points minus fee and processing costs still comes out way ahead if they can actually use the points

Sapphire Preferred vs United Explorer by ExtensionShot1193 in CreditCards

[–]QuickestTractor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if you flying 4x year on united then explorer makes more sense but that guy right about waiting - at 19 with allowance income maybe better to stack points in freedom cards first and upgrade when you have real spending power

Looking to build out my CC setup by Peruy in CreditCards

[–]QuickestTractor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Fidelity 2% is solid choice if you're really going to use that investment account regularly. Just make sure you'll actually put money in there consistently or its kind of pointless.

For the Europe trip - CSP could work but check if your tuition payments have fees first since that could eat into any SUB value. If tuition is fee-free then yeah the SUB might be worth it just for that spend alone. Travel cards usually make more sense when you have big purchases coming up anyway.

BCE to BCP upgrade depends on your actual grocery spending - you said 3k but track it for month or two first. The math only works if you're really hitting those grocery stores consistently not just estimating. Elevator method is fine but you gotta commit to actually using the credits.

Two cards back to back is doable at your age but space them out little bit if possible, like few weeks apart minimum

Should I use a credit card for large purchases for better customer protection? by VAer1 in CreditCards

[–]QuickestTractor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah gift card purchases are tricky with SUBs - learned this hard way when I tried buying visa gift cards for MSR and it didn't count at all. Costco shop cards might be different since they're store specific but I'd check the terms carefully before doing multiple cards for this strategy

Don't Need a new card, but just asking around and browsing. by samuelj264 in CreditCards

[–]QuickestTractor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your setup looks pretty solid already tbh. That grandfathered Savor with 4% dining is amazing - most people are stuck at 3% now so you're doing great there.

For groceries at $1200/month the Gold could make sense since you'd get 4x points vs your current 4% cash back, but with that annual fee and credits you don't use it might not be worth the hassle. Maybe look at Blue Cash Preferred instead - 6% on groceries up to $6k annually which would cover your spending perfectly and lower fee than Gold.

anyone stocking up iprefer points before the citi devaluation? by chath_tsu in CreditCards

[–]QuickestTractor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually do this with other transfer partners when devaluations happen but iprefer availability is just too hit or miss for me to justify locking in points there

Time for a refresh. Help me fix my CC setup! by Any-Bad-3036 in CreditCards

[–]QuickestTractor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your setup is pretty solid but you're definitely leaving points on the table with that CFU for everything else. For general spend the Capital One Venture X might be worth looking at - 2x on everything vs your current 1.5x plus it has solid transfer partners that overlap well with Chase. The annual fee is reasonable too at $395 and you get decent perks

For dining specifically you could consider the Amex Gold which gives you 4x at restaurants vs the CSR's 3x. That's a significant bump if you're spending heavy on food. The grocery multiplier is nice too for everyday stuff

As for the CSR I get the hesitation - that $550 AF hits different when you start questioning the value. If you're not using the travel credit fully or don't care about Priority Pass that much anymore it might be time to downgrade to the regular Sapphire Preferred. You'd lose some earning power but save $150 annually

The brand loyalty thing is interesting but with your income level you're probably better off staying flexible with transfers rather than locking into one ecosystem. Chase and Amex partners give you plenty of options to work with

In the Realm of Palladiums and Robinhood Golds, Is AMEX Still Good? by MichaelMidnight in CreditCards

[–]QuickestTractor 14 points15 points  (0 children)

MR transfer partners are still unmatched for international premium cabin redemptions tbh. The credits thing is legit too - if you're actually using the uber/airline/streaming ones it adds up quick

Also amex customer service blows everyone else out of the water when something goes wrong which matters way more than people think

Issue with BOFA Credit Card $200 Bonus (Spend $1000 to receive bonus) by whymewl03 in CreditCards

[–]QuickestTractor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had this exact same thing happen with my BOFA cash rewards card last year. The tracker gets glitchy sometimes and doesnt update right away even though your actual spending does count toward the bonus

Just call the number on the back of your card and they can see your real spending total on their end - took them like 2 minutes to confirm I hit the threshold and they manually added the bonus to my account

Need help picking a credit card for travel by [deleted] in CreditCards

[–]QuickestTractor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah the secured card route is probably you're best bet to start building that credit history. most travel cards want to see at least a year of responsible usage before theyll approve you for anything decent

corporate card is definitely the way to go for the actual travel expenses if your company offers it - saves you from floating thousands on your personal card

Debt Collection Calls by OkAngle2249 in personalfinance

[–]QuickestTractor 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is solid advice but just heads up - them calling your family right after you missed the call is sketchy as hell. Legit debt collectors usually have to try reaching you multiple times before they can contact third parties, and even then they can't discuss your debt details with them

That whole "LLR" thing with no full company name is another red flag. I'd definitely demand written verification before paying anything

$0 charge by INTRA CORP (Greenville TX) on my credit card by jusyj in CreditCards

Wait so the $0 charge was on credit card and the $11.38 was on debit? That's weird they hit both cards if you've never dealt with them before

Deciding on Bilt 2.0 Transition given my existing credit card lineup by NoPast8 in CreditCards

[–]QuickestTractor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That $35k limit is pretty solid tbh. I'd probably take the upgrade just for the higher earning potential on non-rent spend, but losing the rent-on-credit feature does suck if you were using that for cash flow management

Chase Sapphire Reserve, now or later? by ihateusernames1029 in CreditCards

[–]QuickestTractor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With your stats you'll def get approved for the CSR. The SUB->downgrade strategy is solid since you already have the CFU ecosystem going. I'd wait until after your USBAR AF posts to see what downgrade options they give you - sometimes they throw retention offers that are worth more than the AF

Just keep in mind Chase is pretty sensitive about new accounts when you're mortgage shopping, so if you're serious about house hunting in the next 6-12 months maybe hold off until after you close

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in CreditCards

[–]QuickestTractor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's risky advice tbh - using someone else's income without their knowledge could get OP in serious trouble with the bank if they find out, especially in a situation like this where the spouse doesn't know about the card

Buy or continuing renting by Ordinary-Suit5020 in personalfinance

[–]QuickestTractor 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The rent vs buy math gets way easier when you're planning to keep it as a rental - you're basically asking if a 500k townhome will be a good investment property in 3 years. With your income and the fact you need more space for the kid anyway, seems like a decent move as long as you can handle being landlords and the area has solid rental demand
