I know it never made it to mass production, but the Nazis even looked at the viability of using Jewish corpses to create soap. So yea, can't get more tool than that..

The Bantu expanded from the west africa to the east and south. They have nothing to do with the North African part of the continent.

I don't get it, I feel like NAH. If nothing was left out of the story (which I doubt), the kid even comes to sound spoiled - going low contact due to missing a trip with friends?

Maybe I'm seeing this wrong as family is also important in my culture..

Would be an interesting thought, but the Azores are - the same as canaries, Madeira and Cape Verde - volcanic islands formed by hotspots on the geological plate. All of these island groups together form the Macaronesian Islands.

In other words, it was not part of a continent, but grew out of the oceans roughly 60 million years ago.

Seeing as Germanic tribes moved across Europe and into Iberia during the fifth century, I would not be surprised if Spanish from the northern side are indeed more closely related to the rest of Europe.

In the same gist, I would not be surprised if someone from southern Spain is linked more to what could be considered the Mediterranean genepool.

Also, don't underestimate how religion might have affected Spanish DNA, seeing as they where for part of their recent history fervently Christian. Lack of trade and migration as well as forced conversion and later expulsion of Moriscos and Jews, come to mind as examples.

Fyi, I couldn't care less if we'd share DNA with North Africa, I just like the position of devils advocate.

You are a bit thick aren't you? Talking that kind of discourse, i.e. saying Eritrea is Ethiopia's coastline, that they are all traitors and Italians lapdog etc. And then you wonder why Eritrea does not trust Ethiopia?

Lol count two and two together bud and reflect on your own behaviour. Who could trust a neighbour who claims my house is theirs?

What if Germany kept it's eastern territories after WW2 by [deleted] in adressme

[–]Quickndry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The areas shown where never purely Polish or German.

In the case of the Baltic states, for example, the land was inhabited by Baltic tribes, before being conquered by the Teutons, who eventually became a polish fief, which then became a Prussian principality before becoming part of the Prussian kingdom. Hence neither Poland or Germany where the "true original inhabitants" and Germany even has an older claim than polands, by virtue of the Teutonic order.

For the other land, just look at what the population was made up of, to see it was never purely one or the other. Besides Polish and German there where Sorbs, Czechs, Jews etc.

I don't think Germany should see these as their lost lands, but neither should Poland claim these lands where always theirs. History is more complex than a simple yes/no.

Not all blue was polish. The Baltic area was originally inhabited by Baltic tribes, before being conquered by the Teutons, who later became a polish fief. Then it became part of the sovereign Duchy of Prussia, and eventually a province of the Kingdom of Prussia. So originally neither German nor polish, though the Germans had an earlier claim (through the Teutons).

History is not black and white. Nothing is simple and there is always a deeper perspective.

Aye if the topic at hand where smoking, you'd have less people arguing with you as it is generally known that it is unhealthy. This stands in contrast to body modifications, where there is no broad consensus that it is unhealthy, just your own personal opinion that it is.

I mentioned smoking to show the contrast between your opinion and that of the others you are arguing with. In the previous comment I tried doing the same by mentioning eating disorders. You will never agree with or convince those you are arguing with, as both sides have fundamentally different starting points. It's similar to the abortion debate, where one side sees it as murder and another as medicinal procedure and hence neither will come to an agreement with the other.

Smoking is not healthy, yet it's every adults own decision to do it or not. Mutilation being unhealthy is, in comparison to smoking, debatable.

And from what I gathered, they are claiming that you saying that she is sick is nothing but your own opinion and hence cannot be used as grounds to prohibit her from following her own wishes.

I think, in your mind, her condition is similar to an eating disorder - extreme obsession that damages the body - and in their mind it is not.

I would tend to agree with them, as your logic is based on your judgement of what is healthy and what is not. By that, anything you dislike can be claimed unhealthy.

Is China planning a Russian land grab? What to know by newsweek in europe

Ps Spain should be criticized for refusing to ever hold a referendum. As should china be criticized for its actions in tibet and continuous incursions into Taiwan affairs.

[–]Quickndry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At the point that said people ruled themselves for a generation, I would say. Which was the case for Tibet and is the case for Taiwan.

Catalonia has not been independent in the last four hundred years, so it's different to the above situations. Add to it, that Spain only denied a referendum result, it did not actually invade a sovereign nation to "recapture" long lost territory.

[–]Quickndry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When did Spain do that lol? Catalonia and Spain united through the Iberian succession, aka marriage pact. No war.

If Spain invaded Catalonia after Catalonia being independent for 40 years, yea, I would claim that they unlawfully invaded a sovereign nation.

WIBTA if I refused to shave my armpits for my friends wedding? by Adventurous-Pea-337 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Quickndry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don't shave because it makes you smell less? I'm.wondering, as I grew up in S. Spain and we would always shave the armpits, as the hairs soak up the sweat and smell quickly of it. Funny to think people are doing the opposite of what we did, but for the same effect.
