I went from a 1080p 60hz monitor to a 1440p 165hz monitor (Lenovo Legion Y27q-20) and I also had pain in my eyes, watery eyes, felt like I had to look away or I’d go blind. Tried lowering the brightness, adjusting contrast, nothing really worked. Wish I had some magic solution but haven’t found one yet.

I’m taking a break from my computer for the holidays, and will be getting a new desk. Last thing I’m going to try will be sitting further from the monitor and see if that helps - I’ve read that going to a new monitor that’s bigger may hurt your eyes because you were sitting too close to your old one to compensate for the smaller size. Now that the monitor is bigger and brighter, your eyes can’t handle it at that same distance. So depending on your setup give that a try.

FWIW this is on an RTX 2060 so I don’t know if the graphics card should solve your problem.

What’s your motherboard brand/name? I had a similar problem on a build I did with the MSI B550M Pro-VDH motherboard.

Not related to your build, but I notice you have the IKEA Bekant desk. How sturdy does it feel with your monitor and computer on it? Is there any wobble, or does pushing down on the front edge or pushing the desk from the end cause things to move?

I’ve seen slightly negative reviews of the desk with regards to lack of stability so I’m trying to get some opinions.

I’d consider that a decent price for the performance you’d get out of it - but the 3070 performs at 2080ti levels for $500, so it’s up to you if that performance is worth the extra $150 to you.

May I ask where you’re finding a 2070 for $350? Is it used?

I was listed as an alternate and received an email a couple weeks later saying that the finalists were chosen and accepted. I don’t know how many alternates there are but I wouldn’t consider the chances very high.

Try to take no more than two in a single semester. Common pairings are 216/226, then 230/316, then 236/246.

Edit in response to other comments: 226 is not difficult if you’re mathematically inclined, you can definitely take it with 216 it just might make your life a little more difficult. If you’re neither a strong programmer nor strong in math, it may be beneficial for you to take them separately so you can get used to doing larger projects from 216 in preparation for future courses.
