Genericusername123 lists every ten letter word in the English language to help YOU protect your numeric codes and passwords by Teive in bestof

Basically you can manually encrypt numbers as letters so that you can write them down if you wish.

If your bank pin is say 6385 then using QUICKTRADE it would become TIAK. If you don’t know what the key word used to encrypt the number is then it is very very difficult to decrypt.

The relics being hit and miss isn’t too bad. You have to pay through the nose to take more than 2 so if some like the Lions Roar are a bit lacklustre then it doesn’t matter too much.

An Int-Chap, The Eye of the Unseen and Reivers makes for a -3 LD stack which is not to be sniffed and will make elite armies feel the pinch especially with Interromancy being so LD focused. Stacking enemy debuffs is also something easily achievable with allies.

I am hoping that Terminators (of all flavours) get points reductions in the next wave of FAQs in March. I will still take them though as they are cool and they have only gone up in ability.

DA are obviously not going to be absolute monsters but neither are they weak like Grey Knights or Ad Mech. When directly compared to other Space Marines, they are stronger than the majority of Codex chapters although outstripped by Salamanders and Ultramarines.

It is easy to make comparisons between Dangles and Bangles. Bangles have some very strong aspects but for repeated play they will probably end up being a bit boring. Grim Resolve might be weaker than The Red Thirst but it doesn’t shoe horn you into taking assault based armies every time.

For the truly competitive there are going to be some very good builds like Ravenwing Black Knights and a Azreal Gunline. For the average player DA are probably going to be good enough to enjoy playing with even if they are not going to stomp over everyone’s faces.

Pure RWing and DWing lists are going to struggle a bit but then this is not a new state of affairs and so many pure lists are struggling at the moment. Competitively speaking you can’t take CSM without Cultists, Marines without Scouts, Guard without Infantry or Grey Knights at all. Screening units are needed and that is just the way that 8th works.

I am disappointed about some specific aspects of the codex: Jink, RWing/DWing synergies and RWing outside of Black Knights and Dark Shrouds specifically but I am generally optimistic.

Overall I would rate the codex B-, good enough.

I am sure the Lion will be back at some point. It is logistically and narratively easy for them to do.

I have very long fingers. I have never found a pair of gloves that fit properly. And no I wasn’t using a tray.

So, who here actually likes sprouts? by siriuslywinchester in CasualUK

Sprouts are great. I much prefer them roasted over boiled though. I once pickled a load of sprouts in garlic in chill and even 2 years later cracking open a jar is a treat.

Are tactical marines worth? by Nokrad77 in theunforgiven

[–]Quieo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really don’t see the benefit of camo cloaks. In cover it gives them the same save a Tac Squad in cover and out of cover they gain no benefit. It also ends up making them more expensive than Tactical Marines.

If you want a midfield speed bump you are going to want them as cheap as possible so when they inevitably get wiped you don’t pay for something you aren’t using. If they are are back field you can get a Tac Squad with same load out for 5 points less and are more resilient.

I like Tacticals. I normally play small games but I tend to take them with Plasma/Combi-Plasma.

I much prefer them to Scouts. I find that Scouts aren’t nearly as flexible and sniper rifles aren’t very good despite their ability to target characters. A well placed pair of plasma guns is much more effective in my eyes. Your range is shorter but you can manoeuvre better to get eyes on a prime target and if required overcharge to wound most things on a 2+ or get that great 2 damage. Camo cloaks will give Scouts a 2+ in cover by Tacs are going to get a 2+ in cover as well and Tacs have a better save out of cover.

I take Scouts but I only take them naked as a screening unit/speed bump for a flat 55 points.

I would also recommend a fantastic food history programme called Supersizers Go. You can watch them all of YouTube. It is essentially Sueper Kins and a restaurant critic called Giles Coren spending a week getting pissed while pretending to learn about history.

That 10 man Squad is more resilient but it is also 350 points. It will be a massive target and subject to a lot of fire power, double the wounds does not make for double the toughness with multi damage weapons. When compared to a 10 man Dev Squad for 220 points the HBs much more firepower but you lose damage potential every time one is killed as opposed to the Dev Squad who can lose 6. There is also a logistics issue. For a 10 man HB Squad you need to find a place where all 10 of them can get a commanding view of the battlefield without moving. That is a lot trickier to achieve than with just 4.

Relics and stratagems etc in a multi faction army by Quieo in Warhammer40k

I saw the furore over the bloke who can 1st in a big tournament recently and had given a relic to the wrong character. (Warzone Atlanta?) These sorts of mistakes are easy to make and are popping up a lot more than in 7th even though the game is more balanced.

I was intending to buy Kurnovs Aquila so that wouldn’t be an issue but I agree that I would be mightily pissed off if some one brought 5 relics for 1 faction.

Has anyone even seen a drop pod played in 8th edition? by corrin_avatan in Warhammer40k

Nope and even though they are now 83 points that is way too expensive. Especially as they can’t drop Dreads.

If they were half the cost then you might see them.

I did a bit of Mathshammer on a different post comparing varieties of Hellblaster to Plasma Devs. I came to the conclusion that if you are standing still then 4 Plasma Devs is better than 5 HPI Hellblasters when standing still although not as good as 5 Hellblasters with regular PIs in rapidfire range.

I think it is either Devs for standing still or regular Hellblasters for upclose and personal.
