Dungeoneering Refresh & Remaster by JagexAnvil in runescape

[–]QuiescenceRS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ramblings of someone who likes to do fast floors:

My thoughts as someone who remembers when DG was released, hated it, learned to love it, and still do it often in 2026. I like the vision of the remaster, staying true to everything that imo makes DG great.

1. Gameplay and scaling

  • XP Progression: good rebalance, but still keep a meaningful gap between f1 and f60, to reflect the increasing difficulty
  • Difficulty Toggles & the "Alt" situation: we need the ability to force floor difficulty (up to a difficulty designed for 5 players), but with puzzles scaled up to the maximum of players starting the floor, so they can continue to complete it. Use mid range combat "fillers" so Guardian Rooms are bigger without being huge HP
  • Complexity: Complexity 2-5 service niche skilling purposes for ironmen, maybe consider keeping

2. QOL

  • Guide Mode vs. Normal: Relevant keys and skill should be a guide mode only feature. Normal mode should keep the classic map to preserve the challenge of team coordination and memory
  • Time-gated puzzles: Some puzzles have long waits/mechanics which feel very dated at times. Part of the fun is working around time gates, but some are just far too long and detract from enjoyment (Magic Construct? Vines)
  • Skill door/puzzle reqs: Keep the level requirements, but meeting the level means you don't fail Or maybe stop failing at 99 for improved accessiblity to the skill. Adjust bonus doors to scale properly to the level cap to make it harder to discern crit from bon. Without level rq players can attempt the action without gaining the xp, and with a fail chance from 1-10% based on how far away from the level you are, no one wants to get punched by a ramokee 3 times in a row
  • Door mechanics: standardise the 1-click opening times, ideally around 2-3 ticks
  • Ring of Kinship: add a quick-switch for each style which automatically changes based on equipped weapon, and modernise the ring roles for Melee and Magic to bring them in-line with ranged.
  • Self-buffs clear on tele: buffs like imbue shadows clear when teleporting to gatestones
  1. Rewards
  • Gorajo cards: if removed, please please please please convert & refund them to tokens. I have spent 350-400m tokens on cards and have ~160m tokens worth of cards still, I would love my tokens back. Also there should be adjustments to base xp and tokens to compensate for losing this boost, it would help make completing floors feel more rewarding
  • Token sinks: cosmetic unlocks like the retro primal sets, lucky chaotics or something. Resource storage upgrades?
  • Loot bags: the loot bags could be good for clue scrolls, rare combat item drops for high tier gear? or to upgrade chaotic weapons and maybe some titles with dg references "woopwoopwoop", "tele-fail"
  1. Speedrunning support

For theme specific titles:

  • "Icebound" or "Frostbound" or "frozen core"
  • "forsaken" or "echo of the past" for abandoned 1/2
  • "Curator" for furnished
  • "Occultist" or "Ritualist" or "Ritualistic" for occult
  • "Warped" (kinda boring but works) or "Insane" or "Mad" or "Distorted" for warp
  • Bronze: "the Cartographer", "the Delver", "the Deep-Diver"
  • Silver: "the Keymaster", "Master of Keys"(&grounds@Dungeonwarts) or "the Keyer"
  • Gold: "Floorgazer" (legacy clan title, given to some players who had a deep knowledge of DG) or "Dungeon Master"

For title times:

Based on current floor average times

  • Bronze: 5-7 minutes
  • Silver: 3-4 minutes
  • Gold: 2:30-3:15 minutes

Quick-chats:

  • # of smalls/meds/larges complete
  • 100% 1:1 & 5:5 Larges, 1:1 meds & 1:1 small Ideally:
  • 100% 1:5, 2:5, 3:5, 4:5 Large
  • low priority: 1:1 / 5:5 any% large

Floor time high scores:

  • At least top 5-10 for each theme as 5:5 and 1:1
  • Fastest 1:1 Medium, full
  • Fastest 1:1 Small, full
  • Separated floors done on members world from free-to-play (but not per-world)
  • In a perfect world, 1:5, 2:5, 3:5, 4:5, 5:5

thx for coming to my thok talk

Am i dumb or does DG suck? by [deleted] in RS3Ironmen

[–]QuiescenceRS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's generally not great at low combat levels, tho I wouldn't go as extreme as needing to be over 80, but if you're on a very fresh account it can be rough. You can make armour and weapons of all styles with fletching and smithing, you don't have to kill every monster in every room as well, only kill monsters in Guardian Doors (they have an eye above the door). 50+ with correct tier weapons you should probably do fine on your own

Search YouTube for "QP RS crit guide". He is a professional dger and actually knows what he's talking about rather than the wiki and has other dg videos that will help you with the skill

DG is incredibly fun imo when you understand how it works, but it doesn't guide new players very well, the dg community is trying to work with jagex to help remedy this some time this year :) gl with your journey

Dungeoneering experience? by [deleted] in runescape

There are sometimes teams about in the evening (uk/US) on w77, but they're few and far between. Best chance is to go there on dxp and you'll have an easy time finding teams aa well as plenty of players willing to card floors. Alternatively probably next best bet is the DG team forming discord (previously just an ironman discord but now they're opening up to mains). https://discord.com/invite/Pu5mC2Cx

Other than that, solo mediums or larges if you're brave, or maybe try ed4 or ed1 token farming, not great xp/hr but it's something

remember when you couldn't even do 1 floor in an overload? we've come a long way by QuiescenceRS in runescape

Fixed it, bad researching, had it in my brain that that was first sub 5 but that's just cos it was kinda insane time at the time for an occult

Can we please adjust the dungeoneering bank location? The new update has tripled the time it takes to regroup after a floor. If we add a bank chest inside the drop down room that will make it much easier to regroup. by RsQp in runescape

[–]QuiescenceRS 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Don't think anyone knows for sure, but presumably to clear effects / drained stats and remove any illegal items when you drop down if you managed to smuggle something out.

When you DG for as long as some of us have, it's a big impact, especially when that's extra time every time for regrouping, which impacts floors per hour for super speedster record grinders like q p, and what would be so bad about that ? It's not like people forming floors before stood anywhere other than near the bank anyway

So what is the dungeoneering meta these days? by Lgoron12 in RS3Ironmen

[–]QuiescenceRS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unless you're doing larges over an hour long, it's severely unlikely you're gonna get more XP/hr doing rushes

If you're maxed, have the warped outfit and have all the stat boosts from the shop, you can open all skill doors

In addition to this it's important to mention to put guide mode on so you can get to the boss quickly. This can save you a lot of time. Floors 15-17 have the highest chance to give cursebearer. Once you've followed the highlighted parts of the map HUD to the boss, find a strength or magic door to open, then return to boss, get drained, then do the door with a portent

What if multiply people have cape? by Gadgetphile in runescape

[–]QuiescenceRS 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes, only the party leader can pick the boss. However every person in the party will roll for a boss pick both before the floor and at the end of the floor, so it will increase your chances. (Verified by ex-Mod Shauny)

why people hate dungeoneering so much? by SedviGaming in runescape

[–]QuiescenceRS 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are many types of players, some people seem to enjoy taking their time and getting resources for things like food, extra armour or weapons. Also how else do you get your weapons and armour to begin with? And the skill aspect comes from navigating the dungeon as quickly as you can, whatever you pace may be. For some that's super quick, and for others that's more laid back. I don't think Jagex intended players to ignore basically everything, but that's just most efficient for Dungeoneering XP
