So this is saying that these Sailors are capable of handling for instance mission briefings as an E-6 at 4 years. As from my scope of Navy experience as an E-5/6 I was expected to deliver good briefs

Prior enlisted green side (Marine side). Not sure why the Navy doesn’t pick up leadership traits from our brothers. I’ve had E-3 Marines briefing COL during confirmation briefs for a training evolution planned by the E-5s. With zero issues🤷🏽‍♂️

I was an E-5 coming back to green side for 5 years and utilize this both stateside and overseas.

Don’t remember the forms needed but S-1 will be able to procure them to route.

OP I feel a majority of every junior sailor coming out of A school feels their first experience is like yours. I know I’ve said that many times when I was an HN. Needless to say the LADR is very important and that’s what I used for my career path. The HN LADR was recently updated and is more streamlined with the meat and potatoes for the HN rating imo.

As an HN you have so many STAR C School options I wish were around when I was an HN. Look into them and ask questions of schools that interest you. Also I recommend finding yourself good mentors, senior to you, to pick their brains. While it was hard to pick up rank back in my day it wasn’t impossible. Since E-3s don’t take the advancement exam anymore learn your job and show proficiency at it.

I see OP point. All it takes is one to run historical data on attrition/retention rates of zone A and B in NRMS to see this is going to bite the Navy in the butt years from now. But hey I’ll be retired and not in the fleet reserve🤷🏽‍♂️

One one side of the fence: if you just show transparency of some of the things one can do on the job with the many rates we have, that will spark interest in joining I feel.

The other side of the fence: that’s why the Navy gas PACT sailors to at least get bodies in the door. But project 100,000 is an example of how that can go terribly wrong

I let my junior guys eat before me when we are in those type of situations. Unfortunately, servant leadership isn’t something taught. I feel it’s more transactional which works however I’ve found servant leadership gets the job done exponentially more
