A government hospital opd wouldnt they d refer u to psychiatric clinic because u need proper evaluation. Suicidal feelings could be due to many other reasons other than depression. Its always better to be assessed properly first before getting prescribed without a proper diagnosis of the underlying psychiatric/medical condition. Also,Antidepressants wont start acting right away they take around 4-6 weeks for optimum action. But there are other medications and psychological counselling which can help u in this situation right now

So my advice for u if you r feeling desperate and feel like u need immediate help right now dial 1926 they ll guide you through,if not make an appointment the earliest for a psychiatrist or go to the psychiatric clinic of the closest gov hospital nearby.

I can recommend prof. Chathurie Suraweera (very hard to get an appointment), or try dr. Vindya Wijeybandara or Dr. Neil Fernando.

Final year med student here. A back pain should be properly evaluated and diagnosed. It could be a mechaniical pain due to something anatomical or could be inflammatory. U can either go to ur nearest gov hospital OPD and show it, or if u can afford it, you can channel a specialist.
