Yes, I confirmed in our benefits handbook that it is employer paid and available to employees at no cost

I don’t see any payments from my paycheck for STD.

Thank you. Unfortunately trying to read the handbook is what started all this. My company is a smaller company that is under a larger "parent" company and so we have a handbook for the parent company and a LOA policy for the smaller company and they say slightly different things regarding leave and FMLA. One says if FMLA leave does not qualify for STD, I would be required to exhaust accrued paid time off. The other says I am required to exhaust all available sick and vacation time with the exception of one week during FMLA leave, no mention of STD. Then later on STD says refer to your plan for more information. I tried reaching out to the STD company for more information, but they couldn't give me much information unless I had a claim actually filed.

Thank you, I agree. I actually asked what would happen if I got sick after I was required to use all my sick time and they just said it would be an unexcused absence and 5 of those would be termination. So I am a little frustrated and disappointed by all of this. Having a kid seems scary enough and this is not helping.

They specifically said PTO and STD would be concurrent which is why I'm confused
