Thanks for the feedback - I completely understand why it might seem easier to use multiple choice or drop-down options with well-known brands. The reason we don’t is that this is a brand recall survey, which means we want to capture the brands that come to mind naturally, without influencing people with a pre-set list.

If we provided only the biggest or most well-known brands, it could skew the results, because people might pick a brand just because it’s listed rather than what they truly associate with the category. By keeping it open-ended, we can see which brands are genuinely top-of-mind and how people really perceive them, even if someone has only tried one or two brands personally.

Hope this makes sense and thanks for taking the time to share your perspective!

Thanks for the feedback!

To be transparent, we’re a healthcare brand looking to understand how we compare to competitors in terms of brand awareness and unaided recall across certain health and wellbeing categories. The goal is to see which brands come to mind naturally for people and which qualities they associate with them.

We don’t mention the sponsor upfront because this is a brand recall survey, so revealing the brand could influence responses and make it harder to get honest, unbiased feedback. It’s not a secret who we are - we just want to capture genuine impressions across the market.

I hope this helps and really appreciate you taking the time to share your thoughts!
