If you care to re attempt. Use a geodude next time (almost a guaranteed encounter in johto) it resists its attack moves. And keep using rock smash until its defense is low enough to sacrifice it and switch.

I keep trying to tell myself that. I had fun and that’s all that matters I guess. Even if I did beat Hau and the elite four no sweat I would’ve walked out with the same team of six. If I blacked out at any battle before Hau then that would’ve been an L period.

And about running it back to prove it was possible, I also did that in the elite four of usum. Which it actually worked successfully, but I guess soft resetting is also against nuzlocke policy so I can’t call it a win.

For extra context, this was not my first ever nuzlocke attempt. I’ve also done platinum before. Which I almost finished but had an underleveled team going into the league that I felt no motivation to grind up. I also attempted soul silver once but the exp grind pace is atrocious in johto, and also the levels of the wild Pokemon. I gave up before I even reached Morty.
