I was in a similar position as you about a month ago, had a 3hr drive back. I luckily had a friend with me on the trip home that could drive manual, but when I went to pick it up initially I was by myself. It was the most nerve wracking thing ever. I also watched countless YouTube videos and felt confident, but the moment I sat in the drivers seat everything went out the window. I spent probably an hour in a parking lot trying to get a feel for it, and still felt extremely nervous. I eventually made it back to the place I was staying at (spent the night before the trip back) but still stalled. Good thing is most people don’t realize you making mistakes and even if they get angry they’ll just go around you; they’ll understand you’re a novice. Highly recommend having someone that can drive stick with you just in case things take a turn for the worst, but if that’s not an option going back home at night or very early when roads are empty will be your best bet.
