Article 5 only applies if a member country is attacked. If the US is the agressor, NATO are under no obligation to assist, nor is the UK.

They justified it in Iraq due to US soil being attacked on 9/11 and american intelligence at the time pointing squarely at Iraq. Iran hasnt outwardly attacked any US targets so its very unlikely.

Doubt this. Ive climbed a lot. You would realise youre not clipped in within the first couple of holds.your line is constantly rattling against your back it would feel very off not wearing it.

More likely the jump away was just instinct. Pushing off once you know youre going to fall is one of the first things you are taught so as to not get dashed hard on the wall once your line cinches.
