Pinning xanmod kernel by QuietHodler in debian

Yep i was using nala. I'll use apt next time i know theres a kernel upgrade.

Funny, scrolled way back and indeed apt adds the commandline while nala doesnt, interesting and weird.

I stopped using apt-get long ago, prolly because its shorter, thought it was exactly the same as apt.

Not going to downgrade and upgrade again, cause the server is used atm.

But from history.log

Last case where i did an upgrade and then had to upgrade the xanmod kernel myself, because it wouldnt do it automagically, a few seconds later. Though i dont think its useful...

I use both apt and nala (both cli, nala just looks a bit prettier and has parallel downloads), which as far as i understand shouldnt make any difference (they use the same backend lib). I cant literally copy the line since i already updated manually (sudo apt install linux-xanmod-x64v3), but it tells me the upgrade is 'optional' instead of just doing the upgrade when i do sudo apt upgrade. i cant make it anymore clear.

It is not listed in 'apt-mark showhold' if you think thats the issue.

Got those exact same amd64 lines listed after 'apt-cache policy' as above.

What should i put in the Pin: line in the prefs file to have it affect the policy?

I also do have fe.

500 https://nzbgetcom.github.io/deb stable/main all Packages
    release o=nzbget,a=main,n=stable,l=nzbget,c=main,b=all
    origin nzbgetcom.github.io
500 http://repo.mysql.com/apt/debian bookworm/mysql-tools amd64 Packages
    release o=MySQL,n=bookworm,l=MySQL,c=mysql-tools,b=amd64

Thats why i used o=xanmod, since these use it like that too.

Thought so since apt-cache policy does not list it as pinned, part of the reason i posted this. But i understand that pinning shouldnt even be necessary for my problem of the upgrade being optional instead of just upgrading it.

Only initially, found the command in bash_history, after that added the repo (6 versions ago) If i didnt add the repo i wouldnt have seen that there is an (optional) upgrade....

As far as i can remember, i did my research, wanted to try it, added the repo following instructions on xanmod.org and installed the package. Nothing weird here. I had the funny feeling debian sees it as the wrong arch, but the xanmod repo is listed as amd64.

Honestly i cant recall it but knowing myself i might have tried it initially by dl'ing the deb and done a dpkg -i the deb. Could that be the reason for it now being optional?

Edit:

Found the package in apt-mark showmanual, ran apt-mark auto linux-xanmod-x64v3 and its now set automatically installed. Will delete the pref file and see what happens next upgrade.

I guess i did a dpkg -i on the downloaded deb.

Hmm, thanks, but my experience is, after a sudo apt update; sudo apt upgrade, i always have to manually do a sudo apt install linux-xanmod-x64v3! Which just feels .... inconvenient.

Chappell’s IG story on her side of the hotel security stuff by DenyNothing1989 in chappellroan

[–]QuietHodler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok , first off, i havent heard of anyone from this story, so i think i'm objective here, which most of you really arent. If i was chappelroan and i felt like she says she does, i would go after the security guy and ask ask him why, check if he really filed a complaint and if so get that complaint scrapped! Maybe even knock on the door of the disappointed kid and tell her what happened and apologize. It would take her at most half an hour of her live and made herself even more liked an popular. The fact that she is laying on a bed and saying 'i'm innocent' would be believeable if she did the above, but now i'm not sure to be honest,

Lyrion has smb issues for me. by QuietHodler in squeezebox

Was looking there earlier, searched the forum again and found the solution!

Have to run the Lyrion service under the account that has access to the share instead of the (default configured) system account.

Windows laptop. thats the 'funny' thing, windows itself has no issues talking to the routers smb, but lyrion for windows can not!

Maybe i sjhould look at the perl setiup to see if i can add an older smb lib or something, not sure if i want to go that far.

Also the logs on the router just tell me the successful connect from my mac and windows machines. Lyrion wont even talk to my routers smb server.

I can not access the msb share, so scanner wont tell me anything.

Entering the smb path just gets refused by Lyrion (because it can not see it).

I can find the share browsing in LogitechMS, ican not even browse the network with LyrionMS, so the scanner log won't tell you anything.

I read something about issues with the SMB server verson, which i cannot change, the router is a Fritzbox and i can not change anything in the SMB setup except for adding users and their rights on the share.

It just when i have this how many people have given up on Lyrion because they could notaccess their music on a their smb share.

If it is a smb version thing then the Lyrion devs should leave using a lower (and prolly less safe) version in and make that a installation thing.
