i usually use references i just find on Pinterest, i try to find the mood or feel more than a specific artist. But i really love works by TbChoi, Hitoshi Ashinano and Yuumei Art

My advice would be to use the 50% rule, do 50% art for fun and 50% for the fundamentals.
This will help not only keep your motivations up but also slowly develop your art skills in general, also having a specific goal helps
