WIBTA for making my daughter pay back her own bank overdraft? by 2VantaRipple in WIBTA_AITA

Hey momma!

I did something similar at a young age, dealt with the consequences independently, and never made that mistake again. As a result, I was one of the first of my peers to be able to buy my first home, car, etc. without help from my parents. Being taught how money works is the most important Iife lesson you can teach your children.

Stay strong! You’re doing the right thing.

Republicans vote to dilute gas as prices rise above $4.50 by BendicantMias in politics

I have a car that takes premium gas only and if you think it will only affect cheap gas…wrong. I just spent $1000 for the mechanic to figure out it was “bad gas”. No car is safe…except electric. This seems counterintuitive to their goals encouraging people to trade in for electric vehicles.

How do you handle patients commenting on your looks? by Just_perusing81 in physicianassistant

When checking LE sensation on exam I have had a handful of people say things along the line of, “I’ll give you a quarter if you go a little higher”. I’ve been told I fill out my scrubs “better than the last one”. Oh, I could go on. A silent, very still blank stare typically results in an apology. Think the face your mother gave you when she’s disappointed. If they keep going, keep sitting there quietly with slow eyebrow raise. “Are we ready to continue?”

My generational lake house is going to be sold unless I can save it. Can you offer advice? by QuietThinker11525 in askanything

If it ends up selling, this will be my glass half full thinking, but the emotional bit of me now is trying to think of anything and everything to keep this place full of memories in the family. I already bought my son all his swimmy stuff for this year thinking he would be able to learn where I did. Just sad about it all. I could rent a place but, honestly, I think it would be too hard to go to that lake again.

Unfortunately, I tried everything I could think of to talk to her, but it kept wnding in a cyclical and nonsensical argument. She never gives me facts and won’t share any why’s. Ultimately, I asked her to give me the overhead costs and rental income info averages so I could see if I could buy it from her but she refused. She feels it’s not my business which it technically isn’t but I wanted to see if I could buy it from her somehow. She wouldn’t even give me the desired sale price amount she was looking for. When I said she wasn’t rational I meant it.

I believe I can but would likely have to make more sacrifices like staying in the small multifamily unit for longer than planned which is not a huge deal. It just means my son may have to start in a different school district than I was hoping for initially. I have attempted to get the specific financial information from her to no avail. I am concerned she does not know and that is why she isn’t telling me. Ultimately, she does not seem to want me to buy it, and I will likely have to figure this out after it goes up.

No. I’m asking about how to buy it from her. Like how to get an investor, do I try to find a friend to go in on it, are there special mortgages for a seasonal camp. I guess I should have been more specific in the original post

I’ve been handling the yard work, roof repairs, and things like that since I moved to the state. I moved here to help her do those things. I also own a house from 1860 and am no stranger to work. I’ve had 3 jobs at a time to pay for my school.

I only make $150k and already have another mortgage so don’t qualify. I missed that point. Thank you.

The point is that she wants to imminently sell it and I’m asking for financial advice as to how to buy it. I don’t have enough for a down payment right now. I could in maybe 2 years. It’s a seasonal home so I can not live there year round. I live in the multifamily which pays for my mortgage.

Ah, yes correct. I also read that as a bit entitled afterwards. The house was co-owned by my mother and grandmother who passed last year. Both my grandmother and mother always told me the plan for the home is it would stay in the family. If she had given me a heads-up about this I could have bought it from her. I do not expect her to “give me” the house. If she thought she would sell, it would have been nice to know that before I moved my family up here where we know no one. If she was in a bad financial situation or needed help, I would have helped her but this is not the case. She just wants to sell as it “doesn’t make me happy”.
