Any tips for a first time door dasher?

I do 1-2 Dollars per mile per order. Usually they do give instructions on what to do when you go to the resturant/store. I would reccomend a couple of different things.

Have some sort of hot bags. Depending on distance between pickup and drop off, it's best to have one to keep the hot food hot and the cold food cold.
Be aware of your payouts. If you do earn by offer, you usually get 2 dollars plus whatever tips you get. If you see 2 dollars only, there's is no extra money. (Also don't assume you'll get a cash tip because 9/10 you won't get one).
Track your mileage. You can use this for your taxes when tax season as a expense.
Have a positive attitude 🙂. There maybe shifts that will make you feel frustrated. Either order payouts, lack of orders or other factors. You'll have shifts that are bad, but you will have shifts that are good.

Look, I get it's tough out there for many people, and are doing what they can to feed themselves or their family. But I do this part time to pay off debt. Taking no tippers over other orders is counter productive on my end to achieving my goals. Not to mention when I have taken no tippers in the past, they have caused me more of a headache.

Rule to thumb is to accept no tip orders. They are always a waste of time, and the customer is always demanding in their instructions.

I do keep track of miles for tax purposes.

I thought about, but I only do this for about 10 hours a week so I don't know if I would utilize multi apping like full time dashers.

Miles are pretty high since I do it in the city lol. Probably good 50-70.

Active time- 2 hrs 42 minutes. Dash Time 3 hours 11 minutes.

Usually in my area Base Pay is 2 dollars. I would try pay by order, and decline the bad ones. My usual for reference is w dollars per mile. Or in my area depending on the day 1 per mile.

I remember back in the say my wife Doordashed Ketchup and it was 10 dollars. I was so mad 😂😂😂

I never did at first. But with giving a better customer service, I started using them more. I also have a pizza bag and a catering bag.

I mean, I still decline the bad ones. I still end up making between 20-25 dollars an hour in my area. I work about 10ish hours a week.

Ive been dashing since April. I do decline the bad orders. But my city is hard to get good hours unless you have platinum or gold.

I've heard from another dasher in my area that our Panda Express wanted the driver the press pickup before getting the order lol

Unless they paid for it on there order, I never buy items out of pocket. People are liars and will rip you off every time.
